Have Fun Folks

nice meeting you, Mr. Parker!!! guys, the pic of the whiting does not justify the size of that beast. the largest whiting i have ever seen. i’m willing to bet that it was more than 2 pounds. the both of us thought it was a red drum. had an awesome time!!!

Dpark those whiting are clearly under slot, shame on you!

What is the slot size for Whiting?

I knew they were dang good eating but never realized there was a slot size on them.

Thanks goodness for Charleston Fishing dot com, I may have kept some illegal ones last month and it’s sure not worth the tickets.

Ah, so there is no slot size for Whiting, but if I fell they are too big to chop up for bait or too small to fry, I should just kill them and through them back.

Good one DP…

That was funny… comparing starfish washing up (mostly just cold)from a naturally occurring environmental change, or keeping a few whiting for dinner, to someone knowingly and willingly keeping 50 undersized red fish is not.

Joking about maliciously killing just for the sake of killing is not. Not only is not funny, it’s pretty lame and ignorant, IMO. If you think I’m some sort of PETA PUFFER you are humping the wrong leg son.

Also, just to show how different we are, I always used the small ones for bait and cut up the big ones, (as in fillet and skin), for the oil pan. You should try it sometimes.

Speaking of, the trout bite is still on our beach, albeit slow and light, I’m gonna go give it a whirl.

Have a nice day.

Sorry for any confusion here and Mugil, there is no slot size for whiting. They are delicious and keep as many as you want up to 50, I doubt anyone would be upset if you kept a few extra.

I was just busting Dparks chops a little bit, all in good fun. You can learn a ton about surf fishing just combing through his posts. But I highly doubt he bops them on the head and tosses them back in, and if he actually does, well I still got a chuckle out of it.

Tight lines folks, and pray for warm weather!

Thanks for the info Shippy, I learned more about surf fishing than DP could ever teach me before the internet was invented. You feel free to nuzzle his ballsack all you want though.

Yall make a cute couple but I’m obviously not as impressed as you are.

Oh, wasn’t that you somewhere saying you’ve never seen a school of redfish?

Yet you scoff at the regulations in place to ensure that not only you, but future generations will be able to experience a strong fishery experience as well.

Interesting, like biting the hand that feeds you…

With only 69 posts, I wouldn’t go so far to say “Oh he seems to have a lot to say about everything else.”

It’s just the little I have said, the chassurffishing guru doesn’t like.

I made a post about some people absolutely raping our resource with complete disregard for nature and the law, and all of a sudden the guru makes me the bad guy, with a whole fantasy driven scenario where I’m a nosy busybody with a puffed up chest, blah blah blah blah. Plus a life lecture as if I’m some dumb kid who should listen to Gandolf the older, wise one.

Then comes the ambiguous, passive aggressive keyboard commando crap about poor fish this and poor fish that, shame on that over slot whiting, Oh I’m gonna club it to death and throw it away… yuk yuk yuk…

Just like being at an oyster roast where the topic of conservation comes up, there will always be some half-wit yammering on about clubbing baby seals.

Do I think he’s really going to go club baby seals? Nah, an idiot for sure, who most likely did kill animals for fun as a child when he wasn’t being beaten by a drunken mom’s drunk boy friend. :imp: Usually the only one’s laughing are his hey-bo, salt life buddies whose manhood is measured by their propensity and abitlity to abuse animals.

Yall have fun yuckin it up, I won’t make it to 100 post.

The best teacher is experience, get out there and learn it by doing it, even if means failing sometimes. It’s called fishing not catching. I’ll tell people all they need to know when I bump into them out there , not here though, not going to spoonfeed people who have little or no knowledge or respect for the fishery regulations in place…

You sound like a real standup fellow Mugil…no wonder the folks that have been on this site for years are contemplating quitting it.

If you must know, I grew up fishing Virginia Beach before I (and probably you) could walk, but if you’ve ever fished anywhere but here you’ll know that lowcountry fishing is a different ballgame.

I’m not sure why you get your rocks off on bashing people on a public forum created for sharing reports and information, but if it makes you feel better, type whatever you want.

By the way, I agreed with you approaching those guys, get it together.

Yea, supporting size and catch limits is a horrible horrible thing to do :frowning_face::frowning_face:.

Run people off of websites spouting such nonsense.

You tell me the “poor fishy” and “shame on that overslot whiting” had nothing to do with our previous interaction concerning size and catch limits… I won’t believe you. I’m not into being vague and ambiguous, so I don’t mince words giving myself an avenue to back peddle.

Funny thing is, had DP taken his own advice after telling me what he would have done, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

“I’m not sure why you get your rocks off on bashing people on a public forum”</font id=“red”>

Some people obviously feel they are immune to retort, they want to dish it out but they sure can’t take it.

Since I’m looking at it I wonder… the first 4 words of this report, “Not a great report” … Why not?

It’s a great report, it’s reality. Is it only a great report when you “slay em bo”. Is it for information or is it for bragging. :face_with_head_bandage:

Edit: Wow, a change of title in my honor. Sweet.

Now, why isn’t reporting what actually happens not a great report? :imp:

should have weighed that big whiting for the trident…

also i find yalls squabble cute. welcome to the site… every forum need a good rivalry… always good for the reading

Didn’t realize cut shrimp on the bottom or under a cork doesn’t work in Virginia. Guess pulling grubs along banks and structure don’t work in Virginia either.

Weird, because I have a neighbor from VA Beach who fishes just like we do, except he likes bait caster reels and chartreuse swirly tail grubs where I like spinning reels and paddle tail grubs in whites and purples.

Bait on the bottom is pretty much the same.

As if 50 isn’t enough…go ahead and keep a few extra, laws are dumb. [:I]

Really mature of him.

Actually, someone posted a question looking for mullet and I told them exactly where and when to go. I’ll have to go back and look but I don’t remember a “thank-you” for the info or maybe I missed it…

Edit… yup, went back and looked, no “thank you” from the OP.

And really…it’s bait on the bottom.

Cut shrimp works best
More current/more weight
Bigger fish/bigger hooks
Smaller fish/smaller hooks

Most important aspect or technique: Putting in the time.
