Headed to Fripp and Guide

Headed to Fripp the the week before and week of labor day. Planning to bring tackle for trout, reds, flounder and tarpon. Fishing mainly off my boat. Any tips? Any where close by to get live bait in case I cant find it on the water? Any tips/advise would be appreciated. Also I may take a customer out while in the area, who are some good local inshore guides?

(Ed) Atkins Bait is on the way to Fripp…his hours are posted for 7am opening all days except Saturday…when he opens at 6:30. He mostly has shrimp…but sometimes has mud minnows.

Lots of bait shrimp in the creeks at low tide if you have a cast net. There is still a lot of brown water (tannic) from all the rain…and easty wind muddies the water, but around Fripp & Harbor should be clear. Lots of rat reds and some trout & flounder. Good tarpon reports…at times.

Not sure who guides at Fripp, but Capt. Rick Percy is a great guide in town and very personable. www.reelchancecharters.com. 803-535-6166.

Good luck…

Just in case you need it, here is the # for Atkins…843-476-6586.

Good luck!

Bait is all over where the feeder creeks dump into the river (plenty by the fripp marina). If you have a customer and really want to turn it up, hire George as a guide from Full Tilt Charters (call fripp marina for number) it would be well worth it.

x2 on George…
