My first day on the beach as a retiree! 21 years in the Army and I can finally wake up early in the morning because I want to. lol.
If you see a confused and non-fish catching guy on the beach with a pole, say hello.
Looking forward to getting some lines wet and giving away bait to the fish.
Hey tiretread…same situation, I too retired out of the Army a cpl yrs ago after 20 yrs and moved here last year. I’m getting ready myself to get out there and look foolish trying to figure out how to do this fishing thing at Folly Pier. LOL.
Tiretread ; holyorder;;congrats on retiring , 27yrs Navy seabee

If looking to fish the pier shoot me a msg and I will help you out. If willing let a young active duty help ya =P Pier has some great fishing IF know what doing.
Thanks so much guys and a Salute to those also who served, I’ve spent the winter gearing up and got a pier cart, cooler, tackle box with some ready made rigs, 2oz weights, asst. of hooks, multipliers, a 10 gal bucket and of course a cpl rods as my girlfriend who is German really wants to get into it too.
I just hate being ‘that guy’ with a BUNCHA shiny new stuff out there on the pier looking like a complete moron! LOL. However, being new to a hobby, you’ve gotta start somewhere and needed to purchase the items to start this new hobby.
FishingDuo, I may very well do that! Have out of town family coming in next week and then a trip to FL with them. I’m planning to get out on the Pier beginning May For sure. I’ll drop you an inbox msg when ready to make a fool of myself. LOL.
thanks everybody! I really had a great time serving. Loved it. I have to say that I am looking at becoming part of a community now and getting some fishing in!
I did head down for some fishing but it was just too windy. Ended up going to Bass Pro Shop in Myrtle, so not a complete waste!

Tiretread…you live in the Charleston area?
Also, JIC you didn’t know, North Charleston has a pretty good Gander Mountain and I’ve found that Dick’s Sporting goods as well as Haddrell’s and The Charleston Angler on West Ashley Rd. are pretty good retail spots too. Supposedly from news reports Bass Pro are supposed to be breaking ground in North Charleston for a store sometime soon.
