I want to see Bridgewater play against a big boy team. He has all the makings. AJ is probably the best game manager QB. He does what needs to be done and he is good at it. So I would agree as of now, AJ is the best.

Evidently Florida is not a “big boy” football team? He made them look silly and they are considered one of the best SEC defenses. Yes it was last year, but the Gators were no slouch on defense when compared to the other SEC teams. He is probably the best in the game right now at the college level.
McCarron is a good all around QB. I don’t think that you can really call him just a game manager anymore, he’s really developed over the last few years. Bridgewater is an amazing talent but I’d like to see him play a better slate of teams to see what he can do this year. He’ll be fun to watch at the next level regardless. Manziel is a college QB, exciting to watch but his mechanics suck, never seen a luckier player throwing off his back foot so much. I don’t see JM being much at the next level, in fact I see his career being short lived. Mariota is just fun to watch but I don’t see where he has the overall skills to be a productive pro over the long haul. Boyd is a Moon/Culpepper type QB, he’ll be good at the next level for a time but never a HOF type player.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

There are no rushing stats for these QB’s so it is impossible to make a true judgment of them. The game has shifted so much with the read option being run by so many teams that it’s too hard to draw a distinction with just passing numbers. Johnny Football, Bridgewater, Mariota, Boyd, even Shaw all run on a regular basis and provide much more value to their team doing it. The thing about being an NFL QB is that accuracy and quick decision making is what separates the good ones. Bridgwater I think is going to be over hyped. NFL teams are also running more of the read option now and it those D coordinators are figuring out ways to stop it easier. You’ll see linebackers continue to be focused less on size and more on speed over the next few years.
I think he’s a tough kid but not a great QB. He gets happy feet and while it works for him in CFB, it’ll get him crippled for life in the pros. He can definitely have a pro career but it will be as a back-up just like Charlie Whitehurst. And don’t take it wrong but Connor Shaw is no where near the QB Whitehurst was.

I agree Salty.
Shaw has run 12, 16, 19 times in the 1st 3 game.
Boyd has run 13, 6, 13 times in 3 games. But he did not play much against sc state.
In comparison, I would have thought Shaw had way more runs…

The difference is other than the sacks which count as runs, Boyds are mostly designed runs. I’ve seen a few of Shaw’s that were QB keepers but most seem to be a breakdown and coverage where he takes off. NFL QBs that do that a lot end up on the IR list.
Shaw’s got grit and guts for sure. Thompson is a better overall QB from what I have seen.
