Pollack was already hyping him up Sunday during the playoff show. Pretty sure its obvious he had him at #1. You know those guys talk, and I doubt they would all be talking about him winning it if they didn’t have some inclination it was close.
Watson is now getting a ton of hype. SI, CBS, Fox sports all projecting him for the heisman. Even some ESPN analysts like Kannel and Pollock

The Heisman Trophy finalists were announced Monday night and there are just three players still alive in the race for college football’s top individual award.
While most anticipated there would be six or seven players on the list to go to New York, only Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey and Deshaun Watson got the call. Bovada has released its final batch of Heisman Trophy odds ahead of Saturday’s ceremony, and Henry is the overwhelming favorite.
Current odds:
Derrick Henry: 1-12
Christian McCaffrey: 6-1
Deshaun Watson: 22-1
Before conference championship week and the field being whittled down to just three, the odds looked like this:
Should Henry win as expected, he would be the first running back to take home the award since another Alabama back, Mark Ingram, in 2009.
McCaffrey’s performance in the Pac-12 title game, breaking Barry Sanders’ all-purpose yards record, jumped him solidly into second in the Heisman odds. Watson, now an extreme underdog, is looking to continue the run of five straight quarterbacks winning the award.

Henry with 80 carries in two games is a joke. You could put 5 RBs in his place who would do just as well behind that line.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award (usually known colloquially as the Heisman Trophy or The Heisman), is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. It is presented by the Heisman Trophy Trust in early December before the postseason bowl games.
The award was created in 1935 for the “most valuable football player in the East” by the Downtown Athletic Club.[1] After the death of the Club’s athletic director, John Heisman, the award was named in his honor and broadened to include players west of the Mississippi.[2] Heisman had been active in college athletics as a football player; a head football, basketball, and baseball coach; and an athletic director. It is the oldest of several overall awards in college football, including the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and the AP Player of the Year. The Heisman and the AP Player of the Year honor the most outstanding player, while the Maxwell and Walter Camp awards recognize the best player, and the Archie Griffin Award recognizes the most valuable player. The current winner is Marcus Mariota
Don’t know about the others as far as diligence, perserverance, and hard work, but Watson’s recovery from knee surgery, on/off field character, and results certainly qualify him.
That’s nothing. He has been doing that his whole career. You can go back to when he was in HS dealing with having a single parent, that was diagnosed with cancer. Going through surgery and chemo all while graduating early and setting records in HS.
Then playing with a bad leg last year, to having surgery/rehab, and coming out on fire from the first game till now. Kid is just a beaming example of hard work, perseverance, and character. Anything less than a Heisman will be a snub this year.
Hell Johnny Manziel got it, you can throw most of that criteria out the window. Reggie Bush, etc.

That’s what it is supposed to be. More often than not in the last 15yrs or so, it’s a popularity contest based on very few of the listed criteria. Newton, Winston, Bush, Manziel etc, are not deserving of it when all criteria are applied. Guys like Mariota, Luck, Tebow, Bradford etc. are.

If you put Henry in the backfield of another team this year, he wouldn’t have the same stats. Yards after contact at bama are coming where he’s got a 25-50lb weight advantage over the guy making contact. Most other guys are getting contact first with a guy who has 50-75lbs advantage over them!
Same can be said for Watson though… put him behind most other lines and the stats wouldn’t be the same.
I am hoping that Clemson’s OL will continue improving during bowl practices. It has been a long time coming for us waiting on a truly great OL. Can’t wait for when these guys are juniors and seniors.
He’s not better than Fournette. I’ve said that all year. Fournette is the best RB in the country. Henry is better than OSU’s RB and Cooke. Without a doubt. Bigger stronger badder.

Those coot/SEC homer glasses don’t look bad on you normally, but come on man…
Cooke, Fournette and Henry VS. the 2015 Mighty Florida Gators Defense…
Cooke vs. Florida 26 for 183yds, 7.0yds/carry, 2 TD
Fournette vs. Florida 31 for 180yds, 5.8yds/carry, 2 TD
Henry vs. Florida 44 for 189yds, 4.3yds/carry, 1 TD
That line and nobody would touch Cooke’s #'s. Fournette second.

You cannot explain the difference between Cooke’s and Fournette/Henry’s output against Florida can you?
How about explain which SEC teams UNC or FSU would lose to if they played tomorrow, in your opinion.
Remember Florida scored 2 points against FSU at Florida. I guess Bama was trying to just coast through the SEC championship game when they let Florida score much more?
