Went out yesterday to one of my spots on Folly Beach, not to fish but Just to relax while on my lunch break. I’m 100% positive that everyone on this forum will agree with me.
If you are going to Surf Fish on the beach that I grew up on, clean up after yourself! I found about 5 loose hooks lying in the sand, a pair of pliers, a half buried walmart bag and several empty soda cans. What the hell is wrong with people! It was clearly someone who has NO respect for the ocean. This is the kind of activity that is going to RUIN surf fishing for all of us! The location was around 6th st. west on Folly. If anyone noticed anybody fishing that area yesterday and knows who they are please report them! I live 5 mins from Folly and if there ends up being a ban on surf fishing im gonna lose my ****.
If anyone ever sees this kind of behavior on our beaches please SPEAK UP dont be silent say something to these idiots.
That SOB should be banned for life. How could anyone show such disregard for our beaches. What if a little kid would have stepped on one of those hooks. He deserves to be ***** slapped. I feel your anger Daniel.
Daniel, you are certainly not alone in feeling like this, but unfortunately, just look along our roadways & many of our waterways. People, many of them are pigs, and toss their trash where ever they feel like. Fines aren’t enough of a deterrent either as very few get caught.
IMO, anglers as a whole, do a better job with cleaning up after themselves than the general public, but there’s always going to be that few who don’t, and they’re the people who ruin it for the rest.
Just as reporting poachers needs to done, so does reporting these slobs!
Didn’t they ban plastic bags on Folly? Not saying that is an excuse by any means. This behavior ticks me off to no end. I was taught early on, leave the place better then what you found it.
Whenever I go to the beach, I always pick up left over trash from previous visitors. I’m teaching the young’uns the same thing.

Keep on castin’
You can bring plastic bags on folly, the businesses can’t put their goods in them.
