It all depends. Like Mike said, every situation is different. Probably most importantly would depend on the peoples attitudes and personalities. Some would be pizzed, some would be outraged, some would laugh, some would be happy they got to spend some xtra time on the water (or near it). I got stuck on a flat once 3hrs in when the water blew out faster than normal. We were stuck a little over an hour go we ended up back at the dock an hour late. Guy paid in full and $150 tip. Motor quit once when leaving the first fishing spot. Had to call Sea Tow. The folks enjoyed the tow ride back, drank some beers and ate their sandwiches. That one was different bc they had bought the trip I had donated to a charity auction so no money was changing hands anyway. I recall a nice tip. Offered them a no charge retrip but never heard back. (They weren’t really fisherpeople). The one other time was the best - Motor wouldn’t start at the end of the trip. Had a solo guy who got pretty toasted. I called sea tow. My guy asked how long it would take for them to get to us. I told him an hourish. He checked the cooler and bait and said, “Hell yeah, plenty of bait and beer left. It’s cool if I keep fishing isn’t it?” I told him to fish on. He was elated!
Regardless, it’s not a best case scenario that you hope never happens. Running up on a well known sand bar that you should know is there is a big fubu. Plus it prob had to interrupt another charters day to come get them, so it’s really double indemnity.
And lastly, where is the cf.c peanut gallery on this thread? This is exactly the type of thread where they have their own little “thread within a thread” just loaded with lolzs, and chortles, and corny slapstick comedy. 23-Ricky chimed in and that usually all it takes for them to get going. Where are they??
One other thing - is that a kid running that boat? That looks like an 80k set-up. How the heck can you be a brand new young charter guide and afford something like that??

So this guy admitted on fb it was him, and he had this retort
Capt Patrick von Anderhoughton -
“I ran aground on a sandbar the other day behind IOP, which I’m sure every other guide in Charleston has done at some point. It has come to my attention that some other captains are circulating photos and posting pics on Facebook and other websites. If you’ve got something to say to me, man up and say it to my face!”

And, based on his FB page, he is a Clemson grad… Go figure… A Clemson education is for landlubbers, not Captains… Might be why ole Fritz called him out… Just never know…
