High Tide Rebuild (updated 3-23)

Looking good man :sunglasses:

I think fairing is the toughest and most frustrating part of boat building, but it does get much easier with practice. Keep on, you’ll get her done.

I have been watching this rebuild with big eyes since the beginning as I have a high tide with a soft spot that i’m scared will open up to be worse. Thanks for all the detailed post and Cracker Larry seems to be the man when it comes to helping. big props to both of you for the info. BTW, Larry, the Flat Stalker 18 you built awhile back is sooooo nice. I might be hitting yall up when i tear my floor out

Thank ya sir.

Always glad to help, especially if I’m not the man running the grinder  It’s easier for me to build from scratch than doing a rebuild, the demolition and clean up is the worst part of the job. If you can handle that, you can handle the fairing process.

Been priming and sanding lately. I got things sanded down today ready for paint application.

PS…Kiwi Grip non skid is going on the floor, so I am not worried about complete and even primer coverage there. I may Kiwi Grip the front deck as well. Probably so at this point.

You’ve got her whipped now. Nice job :sunglasses:

Got it painted over the last week… Hardware, motor mounting, and non skid are next.

Looks really good, cant remember if you said you had lengthen the casting deck a little or not?

Great job! I love to see these projects when the primer and paint go on. Looks amazing. Must be a satisfying feeling

I did make the front deck larger and added a hatch on the top.

boat looks great
what motor are you gonna put on it?

I have a 3 cyl Yamaha 25 that I hope will be the ticket. Actually I have never had this boat in the water and I have not had the 25 on anything. I am going to put it all together and see what happens.

I have gotten the Kiwi Grip Non Skid rolled in. I also have glued in the battery tray under the seat. Due to some motor height mounting issues, I installed a mini jacker on the transom that will allow me much more flexibility in current motor height mounting. Saturday rollded around so I decided to screw the motor on temporarily and slap it in the water for the first time since I have owned this boat or motor.
I could be more pleased with the performance. I still have a few things to do like installing rub rail, finishing wiring, and touch up painting.

One recent pic. I will give a more updated story and pics in a little bit.

Got the stencils in last week and finally got time to get it taped off, prepped, and painted. I like the stencils. No more peeling numbers!

Hopefully, the switch panel will get wired tomorrow. After that, the rub rail goes on. Pretty much done!!! Hallelujah!

Looks nice.
Love the throttle extender you got there.
Any idea on the total weight now that you’re through? I’m thinking that thing would be sweet to hunt the greentree areas down in Arkansas.
