I will be in Bluffton on Friday and hope to have a window to get out to Hilton Head and surf fish for a few hours. I will be with a friend who lives in the area but does not fish. My fear is wasting time trying to find a place not knowing where to park or what is accessible. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciate it.
There is a place called Shutes Folly on the north side of the island Most of the beach there is private but that would be a good place to start Try the forum on this site for the hilton Head Beaufort area
Thanks. I’ll look for Shutes Folly as I’m not having any luck finding it via Google.
There are some rock jetties along the north side of the island that usually held fish. Not sure if there is bait in the water right now, but I would usually just use a cast net to catch mullet/mud minnows and have plenty of luck catching flounder dropping a lightly weighted rig as close to the rocks as possible. If you can get a pass into the neighborhood right there it is a short walk, otherwise I had parked in the folly field area biked along the beach up to the jetties.
I appreciate the suggestion and those jetties look like a good spot. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to get a pass into the neighborhood and a long hike is not an option. I will only have a small window so I guess parking is going to be key. I am just looking for somewhere to park where I can be close to the beach and it is proving to be a challenge.
