X2. I really do dislike being the fish police, but those fish are obviously over slot and have to be released, and I hate seeing our resources wasted. Why do you need to shove your hand into it’s gills and insure that you kill it?

This is a man who knows how to treat a fish, also posted today. Do you notice a difference? Come on people, taking care of our resources is our responsibility.

My guess is that those boys don’t want to hurt the fish. My guess is that they care, they just didn’t know they were harming them.
Now they know thanks to the above comments, which is good. But there’s certainly kinder ways of saying it.

Both fish released and swam away with zeal. And no…its not cold on my dock…but the gloves help with the grip and prevent the fish from flopping out of our grip and slamming his head on the dock…though I’m sure he’d survive that as well.

Don’t worry…the dock comes with quite a payment as well. ha.

I should still say: I really appreciate those (especially Larry) who are looking out for our fish and hope we all do what we can to take care of this beautiful place.

I’d be willing to bet the other guy that is holding the fish the “proper way” probably didnt realize having that fish pressed up against his dry shirt was removing all that fishes protective slime on that side.

I didn’t realize we had a bunch of Jacques-Cousteaus on CF! It’s all good. I’ll do a little research on safe “fish holding” techniques.

Looks to me the guy in the second picture is doing way worse damage to the fish. The way he’s holding it he has rubbed every bit of his slime(skin in fishes case) of. That red has road rash like somebody drug him down the road. Maybe y’all should start a thread just for reporting people who, in your opinion, don’t know how to hold a fish. Be thankful this guy was willing to post a report. You won’t see many more people lining up to post a pic just to get blasted by someone who thinks their better then the rest. Good grief. This is a fishing board.
