How do you guy’s organize your gear? I have a very small beach cart with three rod holders( I only bring three rods any way)and limited cart space. I fit the rods on fine, but it get’s to be a bit of tetris when it comes to organizing the stuff. I normally bring a cooler, tackle bag, chairs, rod holders, bait bucket, and cast net. It may seem like a bit much but normally the cooler and tackle bag fit perfectly and flush together. My dad will normally carry the rod holders and chairs but the bait bucket and cast net are a bit hard to fit on. Any suggestions? Iv’e tried bungie cording them down but always have had trouble.
Btw I do not want to buy a new surf cart unless it is a total steal, don’t want to see a bunch of you guys trying to sell me yours.

i usually hang my flow troll bucket from the cart handle. that helps save some space
i have more rod holders than you so the sand spikes go in there. sorry i know that’s not very helpful
i do use the bungy cord method and it works well for me. just make sure things are lying flat and make sure the cord is very tight. everything should stay put as long as you aren’t running down the beach…
Load cart with everything for a long day! Load car! Check map so don’t get lost! Load wife in car and send on her way! Oh, remember to tell her to use, sun block! Open Beer and have a nice day, all by yourself at home, with no honey-dos!
I only have a rusty basket on my fishin’ bike. I put my tackle box in the basket. I have a backpack folding chair and my sand spike fits in the top of the chair. I hold my surf rod in my right hand and go. If I am bringing live bait I put my bait bucket in the basket and my tackle goes in a small backpack that hangs on my chest. The other day I realized that I was going surf fishing the same way I did when I was 9 years old. The only difference is now I fit 2 cold beers in my tackle box.
A cooler with wheels full of ice and bait and drinks for the trip. A tackle bag containing circle hooks, swivels , alot of sinkers and different leader materials. I dont need alot as far as tackle goes. I usually take two rods when i go alone. One is a seven foot ugly stick bigwater spinning rod with a huge okuma bait feeder spooled to the gills with 65 powerpro. I set that rod in the spike with a heavy wire leader and a huge bait. The other ten foot rod I use to catch whiting, redfish, small sharks, bluefish while im waiting on the drag to start tearing off the okuma, then the real fun begins. Oh yeah i always take a beach chair too. Hope this helps.
I got a cart made from a 480v heater hand truck. Put front tires off a riding mower on it. Holds 4 rods on front-fish cooler and cutting board on bottom-chair wedged behind the cooler-has cup holder and bait board on back by handles. Top holds tackle pack-drink cooler-bucket with a cast net in it. Easy to pull even in thick sand.
We use one of those heavy duty garden carts from Lowe’s. It was only about $80 and has fat tires that really work in the sand and ball bearing wheels. We take 4 rods that are carried by 4 rod holders that are semi-permanently attached to the cart and carry along 2 sand spikes to use in the sand.
It will hold a 48 quart cooler, 2 chairs, 1 large umbrella (which we mount in a separate, larger rod holder type piece of pvc), 1 5-gallon bucket, 1 6’ cast net, 1 flo-troll minnow bucket, 1 tackle bag with 4 tackle trays, 4 rods and 2 sand spikes, 1 ditty bag with towels, tools, knife and chopping board. Neither of us have to carry anything but it takes both of us to get it up and down the hill at Breach Inlet. Once on the beach it is a breeze to pull…on a pier it is almost effortless. It is really nice for fishing the parks too. Just make sure you cover the bearings with grease and hose it down when you get home or you will have a pile of useless rust in a year.

My tackle bag is a backpack tackle bag. Holds 4 plastic boxes in one compartment. I can swap out plastic boxes for certain tackle. 2 boxes stay in the bag 100 % of the time - hook box and box with swivels, beads, sinker slides, other small tackle. I swap the others between surf and inshore tackle. it also has a large upper compartments I keep floats, leader spools, etc. I also use one piece of rope about 10 - 12 feet long and a single carabiner to sling two 4 ft PVC spikes, leaves hands free for rods and bait/cooler. Usually carry 2 rods for surf, one 7 ft and a 10 ft. Also, pack a 4 ft cast net, sometimes. It fits inside bait bucket. If walking more than 1 mile (one way) I have a canvas chair cart that holds 100 lbs. See you on the sand. Good luck.
