We have been coming to Edisto in early November (first or second week) for the past few years. We love Edisto and the fishing, and would like to plan another trip in either late November or possibly December or even January. We don’t have a boat and are primarily targeting reds and trout from the surf or creeks (that have access by foot). I know that in some areas further north of Edisto, the fishing slows down in December and through the winter (at least for those of us not fortunate enough to have boats). Does this also hold true for Edisto? Or could we expect to still find slot reds off the beach (surf fishing) into December and even January? And are the reds/trout still in the creeks or do they move out into deeper water offshore as it gets colder? I’m somewhat new to saltwater fishing and not sure of the migratory patterns of reds/trout or how there patterns change with the seasons…any help figuring that out would be appreciated!
Stry state park on incoming tide. 5 to 6 oz pyramid sinkers
As long as the water temp does not get too low, the fish will still be in the surf. I have had some very good days in December during warm years.
