How's it been?

Alright guys, I’m not big into surf fishing but I have some friends I need to take out this weekend and the tides aren’t super fantastic so I don’t want to take them out on the kayak. Have any beaches or piers been producing super well? Any baits that have been doing better than others? Any help would be awesome.

Went down to Folly last week. Fished the beach Thursday afternoon. Caught a couple of nice whiting and a bunch of little ones.

Fished the pier on Friday. Nothing but small whiting for me. There were a couple big reds caught and the next guy to me caught a real nice black drum, probably in the 5 lb range.

I’m thinking the bull reds will show up any day now.

The surf has been good for me using cut and live mullet.

Was at Folly last weekend. Fished pier on Saturday afternoon caught one whiting about 4" long and saw 2 other whiting caught. That was it. Fished North end of Folly Saturday evening/night caught nothing. One other guy said that he caught about 4 whiting.

No sharks at all?

The reds are here.

Cut or whole finger mullet on the bottom. IN the surf, not past it.

Got some lower slot reds last weekend on folly on incoming. Like leadenwahboy said, in the surf not past it. Used frozen shrimp.

Caught a slot red last night in the surf. Had lots of bites but most were just tasting I guess (also still need to go down in hook size a little). It’s warming up though (the bite not water temp haha)

Keith, sorry I just now saw the “No sharks at all?” question. i caught three sharks - one 4.5’ male blacktip and two sandbars 4’ and 5’ on the north end of folly last sunday on the rising tide, between 10am and noon. If its not too late, you might want to try there. Fresh whole whiting and small stingrays did the damage.

Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Redfisher, fishing should be good this weekend. It is a well known fact that the fishing is always best the week after I was there.
