Man I’m dying over here. I can’t get out to wet some bait for two weeks. That is a wonderful catch and you should be proud. I love those heads on those tigers, magnificent. I think a tiger of any size would be at the top my bucket list. I’ll keep dreaming and you keep catching, Thank you Dan. Holy Crap!!!

I fished folly this morning in stead of a Saturday night trip, lines in at 6am first hits at 7 which was a 3 ft sharp nose and then some small bait snatchers and another sharp nose. At about 11:30 a boat came by and my long line was out about 600yds to get close to the far out sandbar and breakers and when paddling in I could see my line close to the surface pretty far out so I thought for sure the boat had it when my rod doubles over screaming, so I run to my rod and try to do what I can to minimize my losses. The boat sops my line stops the boat then goes after about a minute but my starts going. So I try to get lose my line and then it stops but the boat is still going, I start to real but don’t feel much and then it doubles over and pulls drag but stops and bumps a few more times but no hook up. It was a real bummer because I waited for a big hit for hours and then when it does happen it is at the same time as the boat so I think its not a hit and lose it, but it was a monster fish for sure over 6ft, but I was done after that because it was a pretty frustrating situation. There was a dead 4.5ft 60# black tip on the beach by the last set of groins and everybody’s story was different so it was good entertainment. There’s a 8ft shark dead on the beach, about a 200# shark dead down there, this guy just caught a 6ft bull shark, most people called it 6 to 8ft, my personal favorite was the guy who took a picture with it hanging below his chin with it almost a ft off the ground and he was about 5 10 and he was still calling it a 6 ft shark.

Well, I didn’t get my big shark this weekend, but since I was at a loss of where to go on Saturday morning, I went with my original plan and hit the north end of folly by the jetties. I started VERY cautiously paddling out only about 50-100 feet past the rocks to drop my first baits (store bought bonito and mullet). The kayak handled very well, and at no point did I feel like I was losing control with the current there, so after about an hour and a half I pulled the lines and re-baited with some fresh stingray and bluefish and paddled out a little farther, like 300-400 feet off the rocks. Still handled well, and this time I could feel the current pulling, but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. So from an experimental standpoint, paddling baits out there was a success, although nothing good to show for it. Caught a pup, two 2.5’, and one 3.5’ sharpie, a handful of whiting, and a pompano (!) while I was waiting for the big baits to get eaten. Met a young man from this forum out there Saturday evening, but I’m an idiot and didn’t get his name or handle, so I apologize, but nice to meet you man!

Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

@The Walleye Call, it was nice meeting you out there as well, we didn’t do too well either, we had one little run but no hook up.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

If they do that are they also going to stop large women from wearing tiny swimsuits and parents form allowing their 3 yr old wearing floaties in the surf alone?

We let people know that we are fishing for sharks, as well as tagging them for research. As long as you aren’t fishing on top of their kids and being responsible about it they are almost always interested and positive. It is all about how you present yourself.
