Going to be at Hunting Island, Nov. 16-21 and will be fishing from the surf, pier, and or shore at inlets. What type of fish should one be fishing for then? Any help concerning best places to fish, type of tackle, bait, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.
The lagoon that runs into Hunting Island from Fripp Inlet used to be a hot spot years ago for trout in late fall. I think the trout would congregate in there because the water was warmer in the lagoon. People would line the banks throwing mirrorlures out into the lagoon and slowwwwly reeling back in along the bottom. Others would sit on a 5 gallon bucket fishing for spots on bottom rigs with worms, I think. I don’t know if that is still done/productive. There is a pier that extends into Fripp inlet. I’ve only fished it once, not at that time of year. Maybe others can provide current info on the pier/lagoon, etc. Also, you might try a simple jig/Electric Chicken paddletail off the dock at the Russ Point Landing. That dock is right at a creekmouth. For Reds, probably cut mullet in the surf.

Pretty much what Spec said. You should be able to whack the seatrout in the lagoon, especially if you have live shrimp. Get some mud minnows too.

Thanks, spec and oyster cracker for your replies and information. Can’t wait to get there and see if I catch anything. Will give a report on here. Wonder how the pier fishing is?
You should also try for some reds and black drum in the surf. Fish near the inlets with cut mullet and shrimp. Sometimes you can get some really nice trout in the surf that time of year too.

Call cj5buggy. Sounds like a good offer to me. I live in Summerville but do most of my fishing and shrimping down there. Really good area if you know where and how.
