Hunting Island?

I’ll be at Hunting Island State Park for three nights starting October, 10.

I’ll try the surf and pier.

Really want to bring my 12’ canoe and fish Johnson Creek. Assume I would put in at the bridge on a rising tide, let the tide carry me up the creek, anchor when the water stops moving, and then let the tide carry me back down to the bridge. Doable?

Guess the canoe would also work in the lagoon.

What am I missing?

Advice?

Thanks,
Trevor

The lagoon should produce very well for you,

We took our canoe with us to Coosaw Island for several years before I got a small boat…we fished everywhere within paddling distance of Sam’s Point (pretty much everywhere back in Lucy Creek), caught a lot of fish, had a blast doing it and saw many creatures up close that you probably wouldn’t see with a boat and motor.

Yes you can throw in at the bridge on Johnson Cr. It’s not ripping too fast so you can still paddle about. I’ve done good on trout and flounder there around structure. Ocean end of lagoon good too next to oysters and grass edges.
