After the game, Gilmore, a junior, and other South Carolina players took Clowney out to a party until 1 a.m. “Its wild in college,” Clowney said. "Girls be all on you. They love football players up there. I was smiling and laughing about everything.
the whole thing is a fricken joke…I hope the kid’s talents shine at the college level, but from the looks of it I wouldn’t be surprised to see him wrapped up in something stupid within 6 months of being on campus, no matter where he decided to go…for USC’s sake I hope he kicks a$$…

Come on now, the kid is 18 years old. His father is a convicted felon and he has a learning disability (and no, that is not just a polite way of saying he is really dumb). Despite this, he worked his butt off to get into top shape and become the number one prospect in high school sports. I admit I thought the extra time to sign was a little diva-ish, but he took visits after the deadline (almost to the benefit of Clemson). It’s a big decision, and if he wanted two more weeks no big deal. The ESPN train was driven by media madness. In his interviews he seems pretty down to earth.
That said, I hardly expect him to get into trouble just because he likes girls and had a good time at a college party. Good grief I remember my first visit to a college campus as a high school senior, and I wasn’t being recruited to do squat. So while I’m not defending Clowney as perfect, I will be surprised if he is wrapped up in something stupid in six months. Although I’m sure he’ll take full advantage of college life (and who can blame him), I think his eye is squarely on the big prize in three years.

Pretty sure you missed the point. Wasn’t talking about physical attributes and playing ability, more along the lines of ego. Like I said I hope its all just an act and he’s a model player and student.

I’m not saying we didn’t get some questionable kids, and yeah, I see issues with the Townsend kid already too, and I’m by no means saying the Clemson doesn’t get it fair share of dipschitt kids short on maturity and gray matter. The discussion wasn’t about him, its about Clowney, his ego, and the production made out of his announcement.
