I mean, I get it -

Just for fun sake, pretend my temps are exactly on point. How does that scenario impact you? And regardless, even if they are off a degree or three, they are off a degree or three equally. Whats a few degrees between fishermen? Remember we’re going on my Lowrance readings, not your H’mbird readings, so interpret mine please.

So - What does that mean to you? How would you interpret it and how would it influence your fishing?

Yes, you’re right, I’m not a famous fishing guide so I have nothing to offer any topic. So sorry if I hurt your feelings or in anyway threatened your manhood.

I think it is funny that you started a thread and have gone to such lengths to dismiss anyone that finds temperature a factor when fishing just because you don’t.

I see now why you were banned.

Unlike you, I really am done.

Good and thank you. I’m sorry you feel that way and can’t grasp what I’ve been saying. And btw, I’ve never said water temperature wasn’t important. Water temperature controls everything. All I have said over and over is depth finders read surface temperatures, which vary widely through out the course of the day (as evidenced by temps I recorded yesterday), And we have agreed the temp on the surface is not the same temperature throughout the water column because it takes much longer for the entire water column to change temps. So if all you know is the surface, and you’re fishing 10’ deep, then what do you really know? What you don’t know is the temp of the water where you are fishing. Sure it gives you some idea, but it ain’t dead nutz accurate, like the surface temp is. And we have primarily been eluding to catching trout in chilly waters, hence we’re fishing at depth.

Here is a good deepwater probe. I guarantee when this boy hit the water, he went down a ways and can tell you if it’s warmer or colder…

I give it an 8.1. I deducted a point because of the lack of speedos and diving cap.

That guy never resurfaced… Sad story really…

Of course temps affect fishing. Mostly people are looking at seasonal changes, not changes with depth. Some years temps drop earlier in the fall or rise earlier in the spring. Those temperatures tell a good fisherman what the fish are more likely to be doing, where they may be going, and what kind of presentation may work best. If I told you the water temperature was 48 degrees, you would most likely stay home because if you can find a bite it will be very slow. If the water is 87, stay off the flats because they will warm even more and have low oxygen levels. If a guy keeps good records of temperatures, time of year, moon phase, tidal stage and time of day, it will help him locate likely spots to fish in future years. Fish migrate up and down and in and out on daily and seasonal cues. Knowing and understanding those cues makes for a better fisherman. That does not mean I won’t go fishing if I don’t know the water temp.

That was a great hat. Don't make em like that anymore.
