I thought he was "all that??"

Muschamp fires offensive coordinator Kurt Roper ahead of bowl game. I wonder who he’s going to get? - -

South Carolina announced the firing of offensive coordinator Kurt Roper on Wednesday.

Co-offensive coordinator Bryan McClendon will call offensive plays for the Gamecocks in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 against Michigan. Coach Will Muschamp will not name Roper’s replacement until after the bowl game.

Roper spent the past two seasons at South Carolina and also coached with Muschamp at Florida in 2014.

Roper was among the top candidates for the head-coaching vacancy at Rice, his alma mater, but the school is planning to hire Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren. An official announcement is expected later Wednesday.

Its not about the X’s and O’s, its the Jimmy’s and the Joes.

He won’t be missed.

Yes he will.

This is barely a talking point. Some are surprised Muschamp waited this long. I’m with Fritz, he won’t be missed. Granted, Roper wasn’t everything that is wrong with USC’s offense. Key injuries at RB and WR played a part but even though USC has some decent depth at those positions they still didn’t get the performance from the healthy players they have, in my opinion. They were never consistent and couldn’t get on the same page. Either Bentley couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, or the receivers couldn’t get open and/or catch a cold, or they couldn’t get the running game going. They rarely (if ever) managed to put it together at the same time.

“…be a man and PM me.”

I wonder if they’ll go for “a name”, or and up and comer?

The local news is saying Co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will assume the role for USC’s bowl game and it will serve as an “audition.”

I don’t know if the school (A.D. and Pres.) is committed enough to pony up the dollars needed to get a “name” for O.C.

“…be a man and PM me.”

Will Muschamp is the perfect fit for USCjr.

I heard he was going to do the offensive playcalling next season. Said he couldn’t find a high school O coordinator that wanted to take an ass wooping every week and work with the Bentley family. Although if the Bently family would just put their fiveheads together, well, they could probably wind up being 5th place in the SEC.

Not sure how it works in cootville, but typically, most guys are wanting to take a step forward when they’re looking for a change*

The change he wants is the kind that goes jingle jingle in his orange britches.

He deserves it, seriously. I’ve known him for a long time. He’s one of the most outstanding humans out there, truly one of the good guys.

And the mark of a great man is that by talking to him, you’d never know just how rough he had it.

I didn’t realize there was such disparity! Read all the way to the bottom. SC needs to up its game, by a long shot.

The SEC doesn’t just mean more. The conference also pays more, and the latest annual figures on coordinators’ salaries prove it.

Led by LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, SEC coordinators head the list of highest salaries in college football, as compiled by USA Today.

Aranda, in his second year in charge of the Tigers’ defense, received $1.8 million this season to lead all coordinators across the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Combined with LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who earned the fourth-highest coordinator salary of $1,505,000, Tigers’ coordinators earned roughly $800,000 more than the next highest-paid coordinator pair in the game.

Close behind were Alabama’s pair of defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, the new head coach at Tennessee ($1.3 million) and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll ($1.2 million).

Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis was third overall at $1,608,000, Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele placed eighth at $1.2 million and Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop was ninth at $1,155,000, giving the conference seven of the nine highest-paid coordinators in college football.

Among the relative bargains: Georgia’s Jim Chaney and Mel Tucker drew only the SEC’s seventh-highest combined salaries to help the Bulldogs to the College Football Playoff, while Todd Grantham received $660,000 to turn Mississippi State from one of the conference’s worst defenses into one of the game’s very best.

Note that salaries for some private universities, including Vanderbilt, were not disclosed.

LSU
OC Matt Canada: $1,505,000
DC Dave Aranda: $1,800,000
Total: $3,305,000

Alabama
OC Brian Daboll: $1,200,000
DC Jeremy Pruitt: $1,300,000
Total: $2,500,000

Texas A&M
OC Noel Mazzone: $800,000
DC John Chavis: $1,608,000
Total: $2,408,000

Florida
OC Doug Nussmeier: $1,144,225
DC Randy Shannon: $976,500
Total: $2,120,725

Auburn
OC Chi

Tony Elliott makes more than half of the SEC OC and he is only covering half the duties as Co-OC. I didn’t realize he just got a raise this year. Probably the next bump for him would be OC at a Top 10 program or HC in a Power 5 school. Otherwise he should just stay with what he is getting.

Clemson staff gets paid well.

I just watched The Chad’s first team speech / meeting. He made a comment that he was bringing the “Best DC in the Country” to them.

Chit?!
