When I joined this site 18 years ago, I was fishing the SC coast. As I have explored other areas I have continued to post here and share fishing stories, techniques, strategies, etc. with friends here. My intention has never been to offend anyone. I’ve freely shared info with anyone who has asked. Fishing baits and methods are not unique to any one location. I figure I can learn from folks everywhere, and I try to do that. Several years ago, I discovered fishing on the Gulf Coast, and I bought a fishing camp in Venice, LA. I have welcomed a bunch of friends who wanted to come enjoy fishing some different waters. As a matter of fact, I had two folks from SC down last weekend. One of them I met on this site. One of these guys had never even fished for speckled trout before, but he caught on quickly. We caught red snapper, redfish, and a limit of trout. So, I’m posting his photo here with is first limit of trout. All were caught on plastic. All were caught while wading.
You don’t need to explain yourself to anybody.
You have proved yourself in business and fishing.
The effort you put in both has been rewarded.
Thanks for sharing both.
Can you please repost with the photo this time though… I need my fix.
I don’t know why the photo is not uploading. I’ve certainly uploaded plenty of photos in the past. I’ll keep trying. I may have inadvertently done something that has it messed up.

Harold, the picture isn’t working from my phone.
I’m only offended because it’s not me catching the limit of trout.

Takes some testacalies to wade fish…you could end up being the bait.
Not just bull sharks down there, or for that mater, around here…to worry about.
Spectacular fish catching and thanks for sharing the time.
The ENTER-NET Fisherman
On a recent wading trip, I had a shark bite a trout in half on my stringer…and I didn’t even realize it until I lifted my stringer into the boat. A buddy asked, “What happened to that trout?” That’s a little unsettling, but I kept fishing.

I don’t know Harold personally, but having lived in Manning for 24 yrs. we have a great deal of mutual friends that have fished with him. You don’t catch limits every time, just like you don’t shoot a deer every time you sit a stand. I do know the guys that have been there are not game hogs, at least the ones I have been around. One that comes to mind was the ultimate in conserving game and instilled it in his boys .Unfortunately we lost him in Jan, a truly sad day for myself, all his family and friends.
As for me, I plan on going to Venice and catching some of those trout, I can catch them here but not like that.
rr conductor,
I assume you are talking about Fin Coffey, aka Realfin on here. He and I were at The Citadel at the same time. I was in his wedding and I was honored to be a pall bearer for Fin. It’s still hard for me to accept that he is gone. Back in the day, Fin and I caught countless spade fish and black sea bass off the SC coast. I remember leaving Edisto Island and relying on the compass to get us to where we needed to be. After so many miles, if you’re off a little, you’ll miss your destination by a lot. We were pretty good at getting there and back…and getting back is important, too.
Let me know when you’re coming to Venice. I’ll do what I can to help you out.

Fin and were friends shortly after I moved to Manning in late 1982, (married a Manning girl), he and B Sprott and I hunted together relentlessly. I fished with Fin and the judge, went to the g ho
