If Urban Meyer Gets Fired -

This is rich!!! People are putting the success of their football program over morality. Never mind the fact that their head coach covered up for one of his assistant coaches who was beating/choking/cheating on his wife. Oh, We need to band together and make sure Urban keeps his job. Better his job than his morals because he obviously doesn’t have any of them.

agreed…will be interesting to see how this plays out…

I agree. As I said previously. He’s already been tried and convicted by the Court of ESPN and Public Opinion.

OSU wants Dabo.

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

They can’t afford him

Now that's funny right there!!!! OSU is in the top 25 "richest" (endowments of $4.25B for 2017) colleges/universities in the country. Clemson's isn't even in the top 100. I believe CU's endowments for FY17 totaled $683million. Hell, my lowly Terps are 95th ($1.099B...thank you Kevin Plank).

Point being, Ohio State could most definitely afford Dabo, not that I’d think he’d go there.
“…be a man and PM me.”

I’m not saying they can’t afford to pay more than Clemson I’m saying all the money in Ohio wouldn’t pull Dabo to tOSU. Therefore they CAN’T AFFORD HIM, he cannot be bought.

“He cannot be bought”… Wait until Bama comes calling .

That is still a ways off, Saban has his eyes set up catching up to Michigan for most wins all-time, and breaking Bear Bryant’s record which could happen this year or next.

HUGE difference between “can’t afford him” and “cannot be bought.” You originally said, OSU “can’t afford him” and that’s simply not true at all.

As I’ve said multiple times on this t

HUGE difference betwe

Again, I didn’t say he was leaving. I’m simply saying I wouldn’t say “never” or that he “can’t be bought.” Frankly, a coach is “bought” the minute he signs a contract so in essence, Dabo has already been “bought.”

As far as his house, I assure you Dabo owes nothing on that house and therefore wouldn’t be concerned with getting stuck with it if he did move. Don’t get too hung up on how much Dabo gets paid. Throwing another couple million at coaches paid at Dabo’s level is like cold on ice. At some point, the money is less relevant and the focus becomes more on legacy so don’t bank on money keeping Dabo at CU. Plus, as I’ve already pointed out CU’s pockets aren’t as deep as tons of other colleges out there so IF it were to come down to a bidding war for Dabo, CU would eventually lose to countless schools.

“…be a man and PM me.”

Actually I believe tOSU CANNOT pay him enough money to pull him so in fact they cannot afford him. And no despite having more money than Clemson they are not going to throw $15M a year at him. He’s the second highest paid coach in the nation already.

I honestly believe he would only consider leaving for Bama and even that is likely a long shot. Yes, they could pay more but he would have to start from scratch with the culture from the players to the BOT to the fans and that would be a tough haul. He would be following a legend and one 9 win season would get him fired. Their expectation for success will be WAYYYYYY too high when Saban leaves. I think he would rather be the Bear Bryant of Clemson and potentially build an even greater legacy than Bear or Saban considering he was successful at “little ol Clemson”.

Spin it however you want, GW. In fact, you can keep saying the same things I’ve been saying along, but in a more homer tone of course. It’s worked for you to this point.

For the umpteenth time, I don’t believe for one second that OSU is going to come’a callin’ on Dabo and Dabo isn’t going to OSU so quit panicking. I was merely stating a FACT that Ohio State ABSOLUTELY CAN AFFORD Dabo. To not accept an offer from a school doesn’t mean said school can’t “afford” him. To have your offer turned down doesn’t mean you couldn’t afford it.

I agree. I believe when Dabo leaves, it will be to return to Alabama. Right now, Saban is in control of that timetable.

As far as the “Bear Bryant of Clemson” comment, I wouldn’t go that far. Bear Bryant is one of the most storied head coaches of all time at one of the most storied programs of all time. Clemson, at this point in time, is not one of the most storied programs of all times and Dabo, while he’s done great things at Clemson, is not one of the most storied coaches of all time. Love him or hate him, Spurrier will go down as a storied college football head coach but when people reflect back on his career, they won’t first recognize USC or Duke. They’ll go straight to his time at Florida because Florida is a much more storied program than either Duke or USC. So while Dabo may one day get Clemson there, after a few more NT’s, they’re not there yet. Yes, in recent years, they’ve become a player on the national stage but “recent years” are not what makes a program legendary or storied.

“…be a man and PM me.”

Took long enough for these two to speak up. Mother and mother in law of “victim” say this was planned and staged.

Don’t worry, Bang. You are right in this exchange. OSU could probably afford to buy the Town of Clemson, and the University. Dabo would be rolled into the purchase as a mere novelty item…

Suspended 3 games? WEAK! Anyone think there’s more to come from the NCAA or is it out of their reach?

Fishing Nerd

“skilled labor isn’t cheap, cheap labor isn’t skilled”

I don’t think anything related to college sports is out of the NCAA’s reach. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the NCAA comes out and says they feel the “punishment” handed down by OSU is adequate IF they get involved at all. While there were definitely personal conduct issues in this case, I don’t know that any NCAA rules were broken. I could be wrong.

“…be a man and PM me.”

this is very odd. OSU says he did nothing wrong, violated no law, rule, etc…But then hand down a 3 game suspension.
WTH?

They never had any intention of firing him. And it never had anything to do with “doing the right thing”, or $$. It’s way to close to the season opener to open that Pandoras Box. Plus a mass exodus of recruits have probably happened. Firing him would have set osu back years.

They did a little public damage control and moved on. Problem solved

Oh, the irony…
