Do they bump an OSU Assistant Coach up to HC, or perhaps Interim Head Coach for the season? Just to try and rock the boat as little as possible?
Or do they go after an established “Name” right away? Seems to me if they go after a “Name” right before the start of the season they would end up settling.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he “resigned” or “retired.” He’s already walked away from the game once and lord knows he doesn’t need the money. He’s already made plenty of that.
There really isn’t a good option at this time of year. I would look at an up and coming coordinator before trying to lure away another already established guy at another school. Stoops actually makes the most sense, even though he may not want the job.
Problem is that Zach Smith’s wife said that she has been texting multiple wives of the coaching staff about the 2015 incident.
Meyer is done. The fact that he already knew about the 2009 beatings, and still hired this guy is bad enough. This dude was a known wife beater, recruiting hundreds of kids and supposed to be a role model?
I know Meyer has had incredible success, but how he left Florida and now this with OSU, it’s definitely going to be what truly resonates on his coaching resume.
I think he’s gone. He’s now attempting damage control. Obviously his lawyers are trying to get the school to fire him without cause. The school want’s the opposite. There will be a settlemnt
a step back to look at the bigger issue…obviously I’m no fly on the wall, but if there was that kind of domestic violence issue, and he (or anyone for that matter) knew about it, shame on them for not stepping forward…

While I agree I also think they are adults and if they are trying to work things out they need some space to do that. If they are trying to fix their relationship and Meyer fires him and gets him thrown in jail it will only make things worse. I heard that at some point they were having counseling to work on this. Since Meyer knew there was counseling at some point he must have stepped forward a little to see if things were OK.
It also appears there were “only” (I know, even 1 is too many) 2 incidents spread quite a bit apart. If this was a continuous problem I’ll fully on board with taking this guy out back and giving him some of his own medicine or getting him in jail but it’s a big decision to make for an outsider to make.
If everyone in the world got fired and jailed for one punch or slap (against any sex) most of us would be in jail right now.
So where do you step in? I’m sure we would all have different answers to that. I’m also pretty confident that none of us know enough detail about what really went down to make an informed definitive decision.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Now that’s funny right there!!! OSU is in the top 25 “richest” (endowments of $4.25B for 2017) colleges/universities in the country. Clemson’s isn’t even in the top 100. I believe CU’s endowments for FY17 totaled $683million. Hell, my lowly Terps are 95th ($1.099B…thank you Kevin Plank).
Point being, Ohio State could most definitely afford Dabo, not that I’d think he’d go there.
Why wouldn’t OSU want a coach like Dabo? Again, I don’t believe for one minute Dabo is going anywhere any time soon, but why wouldn’t a school like OSU want a coach like Dabo?
