Cracker, good shot! Now, what was in the duffle bags and did you turn all of it in:question:
I never even looked in the bags Easy, not sure. Money is my guess. Yes I gave them, the bags and their rendezvous numbers to the CG. It was a cocaine operation.

If you are going to put a gun on your boat dont fool around.

Dang Cracker, that is best story I have ever read on this website.
I’m gonna start carrying my 20 gauge to shoot down drones. [:I]
That is a scary situation Larry!! Glad it turned out OK.
Cracker, you patched the boat or the dude with duct tape? hahaha
When will story time with Larry be? I think it’d be worth attending.
All these “what if” questions make me think “if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle”.

Yes, most of this half of the world anyway. Mrs. Cracker and I did have an incident once with pirates/thieves in the Bahamas that required a Stoner carbine to resolve, but the hijacking story mentioned above happened in Savannah.
This was in the early 1980s and I was running charter boats. Got a call one night from a very Hispanic guy, didn’t speak much English, My Spanish is poor but I understand a lot of words. I got pescado, manana, dos manos, que mas, que hora. I needed the trip and was free, called my mate, a beautiful girl who worked with me for years. Never seen a man or fish she couldn’t handle. We’d been through a lot together, I loved her and knew her like my wife. We didn’t even have to talk, we just had to look at each other to know our thoughts.
The charter shows up on time, in a taxi and 2 young Hispanic men get out. Neither were really dressed for fishing, both were carrying black duffles that didn’t really look like fishing gear. They paid cash up front. Here’s your sign!
Got them settled aboard, gave the safety speech, tried to figure out what they wanted to do. Ran out Wassaw sound to the ocean, and KC reef. Stopped the boat, went down to the cockpit and asked them if they wanted to troll, or bottom fish, or what, in my bad Spanish and their worse English.
One of them thrusts a piece of paper at me with typed Lat/Lon numbers and said we go here. I looked at them and said no we aren’t. One of them them grabs my mate by the hair and pulls out a long knife and holds it to her neck. The other ones says

A lot of insecure big men out there these days…
Bolbie, you never change. Back in the day every “big” man carried a pistol, shotgun, or long gun. But those big men used them for protection and securing a dinner. Nowadays it’s not the “big” men to fear but the “little” man, that’s looking to add to his inability to deal with life.
Answer me this. With your statement are you suggesting that you don’t carry a weapon with you?

If not, where do you keep one that kids cant get their hands on?
If hidden safely away, how quickly could you retrieve it “in case of that emergency”?
To believe in the Devil one must also believe in GOD… That’s kind of like if you believe in light, you must also believe in darkness.

Bolbie–I keep it in my right pocket or waistline depending on what I’m wearing.
Highly doubt I will ever have a need for it, but I care too much about my family and friends to call a guy with a gun and badge during an emergemcy and hope for the best.

I have really mixed feelings about all this…
I REALLY respect all of you who responsibly own guns and use them correctly for protection, etc…
having said that… guns scare the SH*T out of me… just too many idiots and accidents waiting to happen. guns escalate things to deadly circumstances quickly and that disturbs me deeply.
no good answer to all this, do what you think is best and live with the consequences…

I’ve worked claims in Orangeburg County, Kingstree and in Smoaks, SC. Those places are a lot more dangerous than anywhere on our waters around here.
I’ll not carry my gun on the boat until the IWC is as sketchy as Smoaks.

??? What the hell is sketchy about Smoaks? There’s not even a stop sign there, just a railroad crossing. And the whole area around there is nothing but woods and swampland. Some (**() good people out there too! I feel much safer in Smoaks than I ever do around Charleston. And I live in Orangeburg county, though there’s plenty of places in it that I won’t go after dark, or before dark for that matter.

Perhaps if you did carry, you’d be helping to keep it from getting as sketchy as you fear…

I agree Matt! I find it ironic that I came to the south to find so many people against guns and concealed carry. I would feel much safer knowing that law abiding citizens around me are carrying. Crime stats all over the nation prove that it makes a safer city. It has nothing to do with being “insecure”. Some idiot swings a gun and everyone jumps on the bandwagon against guns, yet the same idiots will be cutting people off driving down the road. I guess they don’t realize that they’re 10 times more likely to die by driving like an idiot than they would by being shot by a lawful gun owner. Point is, just because one idiot pulls a gun doesn’t mean that YOU shouldn’t carry and it absolutely doesn’t mean people in general shoulnd’t carry.

I’m starting to think that a lot of the people on this site believe that guns are more dangerous than stupid.

BOLBIE, DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD? To be clear, I do. I know this is a bit off subject on the green jon boat, but you brought it in this direction. Finish it off…
