Dr. Terry I hope you feel vindicated.
My son’s running some new high lines across the water not too far from you, he showed me some pics of a couple of Huge rays swimming below. One was a manta that had both wing tips out of water like two shark dorsals.
I sure hope you solve the mystery. I’m doubtful it was a Crevalle with the several hook ups you’ve had. You’d have landed one by now…i think. Pound for pound one of the strongest inshore fish I’ve ever landed… even the couple of tiny ones I’ve caught under a cork thought they were twice the fish. Some will tell you they are not good to eat, but they taste just fine.
Lots of crazy stuff out there!

Thanks! Would love to see someone pull one up. Had one on the other day with stronger gear and ended up trying to hanldline it up. I think they are really big rays.
I’ve kinda moved on as ive run out of ideas. Oh, I did also hook up with the bottom, I can see how it might be easy to confuse that with a fish for a while. Anyway tight lines everyone, hope someone solves the mystery.
Cheers

Id suggest using a downrigger in that spot. Bet you’ll hook up again for sure.

Dr. you were definitely bumping bottom at the beginning of the video. Tarpoon did I understand you were anchored there during your line dump?

Yes we were anchored at the end of the N Jetty. Live bait on a float rig. re-lined today. 310yrds 30lb. I guess what I really need is a quick release anchor clip and faster feet.
Back in town now, hoping to go again soon!
