How do you see this changing college. I think your major college programs are getting ready to run away with college football even more so than they already have. You look at Florida and the high profile coaches they are bringing in not just head coaches, but assistants. I know this may come as a surprise, but I hope Clemson is successful with what they are doing. I think it is cool that they have guys that came up through the program on their staff as assistants. Who can sell your program better than alumni. As long as they lose to South Carolina I hope they win every game. I also like the move South Carolina made with Marcus Lattimore. Same kind of thing. If you can create a home grown program and have success I think it is great.
Agree with you on which way is better, and I also hope that at some point the money and win at all costs approach backfires and kids/parents would rather come to a program where it’s a little more stable of an environment.
The thing is, Michigan got both when they made this hire. They got a guy who loves the school and who brings a giant toolbox to the job.
I say good for him, but I know that it’s going to lead to other major programs getting excessive with their comp packages and buyouts for these guys. I feel sorry for some of the guys who take the stress of those jobs, but wait… what’s that over there in their bank accounts!? Nevermind, I won’t feel sorry for em!

Good point Andy. Tony Elliot (RB coach and now co-offensive coordinator) was actually on my high school football team at James Island. Even then his football IQ was very high. I couldn’t be more proud of my former teammate and wish him nothing but the best. Truly one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet. I like how Clemson is promoting from within. It’s good for the kids and good for college football.
