In need of a waterproof box

I need a good waterproof box, that floats, and is relatively cheap that i can toss my phone wallet keys and all in for being in my wet little boat. Suggestions on what and where to get?
And no I cant just spray it with neverwet!

I use a 1200 Pelican case. Cheap on amazon. Will hold phone, wallet, keys, and camera plus more depending how you configure the foam insert or no foam at all.

lock an lock containers work great too.

Pelican cases for sure. I have 4 in different sizes and wouldn’t use anything else. Their warranty is great too.

See if you can find and old Military Ammo can. Waterproof, hard to destroy, floats with the lid closed and locked, has a carry handle. Cheap!

They have good ones at walmart. That’s where I got mine. 5 bucks and they work too.

X2 on the walmart ones. I wish I would have used mine on Saturday. Another phone bit the dust. The one I have is big enough for phone, wallet, pocket tide tables, knife, and small adjustable wrench.

Pelican makes the best but, I have a couple of Wally World boxes that keep everything completely dry. They just are not as heavy-duty as a Pelican.

The place you work on Sunday carries just the case you need, Pelican.

I have a box from walmart that works great (about $6). May not hold up if it falls off the truck while you’re driving down the road but plenty sturdy for kayaking and boating.

I also have a dry bag that you roll the top down and clip it closed. It was less than $20 and works very well too. I’ve had it for about 6 year and it’s held up to a lot of use w/o a problem.

I have a pelican case w/ padded dividers that is specially made for photographic equipment. It was over $100 but would stand up to a bomb blast.

A tip: if you pack a dry box in your checked luggage on the air plane make sure it’s open. I put checked one in my luggage one time and it was really tough to open at the other end b/c the pressure changes.

Can’t wrong w/ Pelican. They’re not terribly expensive for the small ones and you can get nearly any size you can dream up. If you’re just looking to put a cell phone and/or point and shoot camera in it you’ll probably get by for less than $20. I also have one of those that I forgot to mention in my previous post. One thing to look out for is dimension measurements. When I bought it I was looking for one to hold my wallet, phone and small camera. I also wanted it to fit in the small round storage hole between my legs in the kayak. I sized it up and was unsure if it would fit into the storage compartment. I called Austin Canoe & Kayak and asked them if they would get the box and try to fit it in an identical kayak in they’re store. They did and it fit in just fine. The only problem was that the interior dimensions provided on line were taken with the rubber insert removed. I had to remove it to fit everything in but it was also part of the water tight seal. So now I have a box that doesn’t do exactly what I want.

Longer story than you wanted I know.

If you don’t need it immediately you can get a good deal at Austin Canoe & Kayak online (ack.com). If you haven’t shopped w/ them, they’re fantastic at customer service and very frequently offer discounts through their newsletter. It’s posted on their website and you can sign up to receive it via email.

Also, I think that Dick’s has a small selection of Pelicans in the store.

Yeap…Pelican cases or Otter Boxes. They will do the trick and last a long, long time.

Time out has the Pelican cases, roll top dry bags, Seal line E-Cases, and other dry storage for your phone and such. The walmart stuff works, until it doesn’t!

Saw something on another forum and tried it. Walmart carries a bag in the camping section. Pretty heavy duty. Triple fold the top and snap it closed for a water tight seal. Only about $5 bucks.

The guys on the other forum were using these bags to store their cast nets in dry storage ben after catching bait. Gets the nets out of the way when fishing.

I use them to keep my wallet, keys phone, etc.

I saw a Plano waterproof box today at Academy Sports for 19.99. Looked almost as good as a Pelican.

Precisely! Thats why I'll be getting a pelican, permitting their not outrageous. Just FYI I've had a phone ruined in a properly secured dry bag because of a tiny pin sized hole. Thats why I won't use one again
