IOP 10/21

Found one.

Nice fish.
That’s good news. Headed down to Edisto today for the week. Been dealing with issues related to aging parents so I have not been down in over a year. Kinda excited.
Today and Monday doesn’t look too good, but the rest of week looks like west winds. Kinda excited.

Whoo Hooo !
Glad you got one !

Jack Taylor

Thanks fellas, hopefully not the biggest of the season. Had multiple Shark runs, landed 2 healthy Sharpnose. This Red was very strong! It tried to bulldog me, but was no match against the Cabo. :stuck_out_tongue:

Great catch David. Looks like they have finally arrived. Better late than never:smiley:

Nice catch did you get that on double drop rig?

Sorry papa, here you go then…

Got up early, 6:30ish and walked the dog. Got a cup of coffee, checked the tides, watch the weather forecast. Looked like the weather would be great, N/NE winds and mostly sunny with low tide around 3:00pmish. Hmmm…what time to go??? Not a fan of high tides…10:30AM?, sounded okay. Got lines in 11:00 or so. Great looking trough with some nice deep holes and cuts.
Medium current, pretty clean water, guessing mid 70’s temp. Average number of bites, small to average Whiting, Bluefish and small Rays. Chunked up three Whiting & 2 Blues. With the bite being slow “IN” the trough I moved out onto the bar near low floating the cart through the trough. Bite slowed a bit at dead low but picked up quickly after. Fishing beyond the sand bar, the chunk rods were getting hit. Had 5 hard runs, landed 2 healthy Sharpies then the Red, thought is was another Shark, glad it wasn’t. As the tide flowed more and more had to vacate the bar back to the beach. Sat with the wife a bit and decidited to pack it up and head home. Of the beach around 5:45pm. Drove thru Bojiggles for some chicken and biscuits.
All that being said, it was ANOTHER great day on the beach.

Dparker thanks for the info. Did you see any mullet in the surf?

Wasn’t really looking for them, but didn’t notice any.

Dparker, do you find the bull redfishing is not as good on beaches that have nearby jetties. I’m wondering if they swim parellel to the beach and if a jettie would push them more offshore.

haha sorry that was supposed to be a good “red”… hahaha wow. Didn’t mean to come off sounding harsh to ya. I don’t need a fully detailed report, although I did enjoy that response as well

Ohhh…good Red [:0]. Didn’t take it bad, figured you wanted some more info. Smart phones…not so smart. :slightly_smiling_face:

During the spawn the big Reds can be anywhere from 20’, 200’ to 2000’ off the beach. I try to cover as much water as possible. Have been packing 6 rods past couple of trips, 3 small rigs with shrimp, 3 big rigs with cut bait. Caught the Red on the 10’ rod, casting from the sandbar 70-80yrds…what I call WAY out there. And as usual WAY out there, Sharks and Rays out number Reds 10/1 on cut bait. But I’m sure the fish aren’t bothered by jetties, I just don’t fish around them much.
