Saltwater Surf / Pier Fishing

Trying to take advantage the surf while I can still withstand this weather , So far it’s ok day caught 3 whiting 1 ray and a puffer fish

You did better than me. I got nothing. I came down where you were on my way out. Did you see me? :smiley: I wasn’t sure if that was you.

Not sure I think I saw you I am there around 1:30pm - 4:30pm

I came down around 3:00 and walked out for a quick look. After not getting a bite for three hours, did not think the bite was any better where you were.

Actually, I surf fish ALL year…every month. The only true “slow” time would be end of Feb. to early March if the water temp stays 50 and below.

Yep surf fishing is fun as long as the weather is within my limits i’ll go out

Thanks for the report Jarvis. Was wondering how people were doing. That puffer fish is pretty cool all blown up:smiley: I have been out only once since MAD. I took my boy out surf fishing during the week, before Thanksgiving. Only caught 4 whiting, 3 small ray’s and one trout. No reds or black drum for little Pete:roll_eyes: I’ve been trying to focus on family a bit, they were very understanding over the last several months. Hope all are well and have a wonderful Christmas.

That’s a Checkered Puffer.Full of neurotoxins. Can kill a cat or dog. Supposedly used in Haitian voodoo potions to make zombies. Nice story but don’t eat.

I’ve never caught a big puffer like that, only the small ones you’ll see floating buy if you know what your looking for. They safe to handle?

The little ones will make your hand a little red if you pick them up, never had one puff for me.

Delicious. Sweetest tasting critter in the sea. Amazingly simple to clean & make ready for the frying pan.
