First off…it’s gonna be a busy summer. IOP was slammed with people by 10:00AM. Fished from 8:30-12:45. Not a bad day, caught some healthy Whiting, a few Croaker,Spots and too many baby Sharks. Hit Folly on Sunday, not as productive but okay. A few decent & tiny Whiting with an almost keeper Flounder.
This may sound like a really stupid question but could you keep the smaller white and croakers for bait and cast those out, or does DNR frown upon using other catches for bait.
Anyone can do nothing, be someone and do something
yes, you can
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
Good for you Sir. Got a question for you, or ten[:I] I’ve heard before people referring to the spot on a red fishes tail as a possible means to throw off predators and confuse them simulating an eye. I see that flounder has some dark rings on it that look just like eyes. Have you heard of this before? It seems to make some sense to me. The last time I was out, so were the baby sharks as well, caught a handful. Little boogers.
Fished chunk Whiting, Spot, Croaker and Bluefish on Sat. Caught a couple nice Whiting on Whiting “strips”, targeting Specks, no other discernible bites. I’m not into the Shark thing so, how far out? Past the last sand bar? But mostly dropping strips into deeper spots in the troughs. Only had small Blues and baby Sharks cleaning the chunks off.
Funny thing on IOP. A nice lady surfisher came over to me and said; “The young boys up the beach said I should ask you what you are doing to catch fish.” After looking at her rig, hooks and bait, all were okay. I pointed out some places up where she was fishing to target. Not 10-15mins later she comes down with a nice Speck! I gladly took a picture of her fish and released it. She was very excited.
Pete, I believe a Flounders spots are more camo. A Reds spot is as you said to distract predators away from the head.
Do yall have issues with the people living on Folly saying they don’t want you to setup behind their house?
Lo siento, no entiendo. Te gustaria unirte a mi? Que nada!!! Dejame en paz viejo cabra feo!!!
If you took french in school, sorry. But no, never had any issues with home owners. Just the opposite for me on IOP. Have met many beach front owners. Very nice people.
I guess I need to head out to IOP and try it out. I just wish that the parking was a bit closer so the family could enjoy it with me.
