The early morning low tide on Friday was too good to pass up. So, I took the day off and woke the boy up before sunrise to head to a fishy looking trough we’d spotted on our last trip to the beach. We were not disappointed.
Set up around 6:30, and about an hour or so later the bite really turned on. Ended up with 20+ black drum (include 2 doubles), 1 good slot red, and a few whiting. All caught on fresh shrimp from Harris Teeter. Didn’t keep anything, so we threw the leftover bait on the grill that afternoon instead. ![]()
We would have ended up with more if my son hadn’t stepped on a shell that required a quick exit.
