The early morning low tide on Friday was too good to pass up. So, I took the day off and woke the boy up before sunrise to head to a fishy looking trough we’d spotted on our last trip to the beach. We were not disappointed.
Set up around 6:30, and about an hour or so later the bite really turned on. Ended up with 20+ black drum (include 2 doubles), 1 good slot red, and a few whiting. All caught on fresh shrimp from Harris Teeter. Didn’t keep anything, so we threw the leftover bait on the grill that afternoon instead.
We would have ended up with more if my son hadn’t stepped on a shell that required a quick exit.
