Been almost 2 months of weekends out of town. Finally got to stay home.
On the beach early, dead low tide rising. Found a nice trough with a ditch. Whiting and Blues consistently for about 4 hours. Caught a bucket full of 12"-14" fat Whiting, would have made a fine fish fry. Also caught 10-11 Rays, which was okay, a few were bruisers, gave me a good work out. One baby Pompano and another small Palometa, which I droped before a pic. Only caught one Shark around high tide, bite slowed at high falling. Was another beautiful day in the surf. Was begining to loose my tan, the sun felt NICE!
I may be a bit off on the weight of the Pomp…just a little.
Good to be the King, only you can get away with that, no sunday night fish fry at your house tonight? Glad you got out Mr. Parker. FYI saw tons of bait in the water today jumping everwhere. Im not sure what it was but it was thick, realllllly thick. I thought it was a bunch of whiting.
Nah…no fish fry runbabyrun. If I want fried Whiting, I’ll go to Bowen Island or maybe Dave’s Carry out. No mess to clean up. Maybe Mehaden you saw? They are thick in spots off the beaches and are probably getting big. Noticed some breaching off Folly today, could not tell what it was. The pelicans were diving most all morning on the same schools. I haven’t seen much Mullet activity in the surf zone. Usually you can tell when they are jumpin’.
“There’s a fine line between fishing and standing in the surf like an idiot.”
After a long time off just being out is worth the trip! Last weekend found some mullet to throw the cast net at and pulled up a pomp about that size. Not a very sporting way to land my first SC pompano
That a cool lil guy right there lol. I went to Folly this past weekend early at dead low tide until about 12. Caught a couple 10" croaker but that was about it.
