IOP and Sullivan's

I am going down to my grandparents condo in wild dunes on isle of palms tomorrow for a week I am taking some rods to do some surf fishing and was wondering where would be good to try. I have seen people catch decent size sharks right out in front of our condo firsthand thing in the mornin before. Also I’m only 17 but have my drivers lisence and access to a car so I would also be willing to go to Sullivan’s if it would be worth it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for secret spots just general areas. Thanks in advance!

The bridge between the IOP and Sullivans (Breach Inlet) can be a decent place to shark fish. Park on the Sullivan’s side, walk to the beach, and turn right. Go past the first rock groin you encounter, and fish in between the rock groin and the big “round” coffee can shaped house. Anywhere halfway in between those two, roughly, can be decent for stuff like bonnetheads and redfish.

Take a small round crab hoop with you to catch crabs for bait. Cut them into quarters (no legs or claws or top shell, just the meat knuckle) using a decent sized circle hook (I like 6/0 to 9/0) on a carolina rig, 1.5-3 ounce sinker, and a stainless steel single-strand leader (or the sharks will gnaw through it). If you use a sand spike, use SOMETHING to anchor your rod to your cooler or tackle box if you do not have a bait clicker on your rod. Large reds and any shark 2’ or larger can yank over sand spike and take your rod out for a ski.

Moral judgment under girds the entire structure of laws and is necessary for the rational structure of any significant statute. The idea that our laws can stand independent of moral foundation is senseless.----- Albert Mohler.
