IOP Beach Reclamation

Headed to IOP at the end of June. We usually stay at the north end of the island in Wild Dunes. I fish in the Dewees Inlet (the channel between IOP and Dewees island).

Is the beach at that end still being rebuilt? If so, is it interfering with the fishing near the north end of IOP?

I heard that the beach project goes on hold in the summer because of the turtles coming onshore to lay eggs. Any truth in that?

Thanks in advance for any information.

As far as I have seen they are not actively working on the beach. They are testing some kind of new “sea wall” made of plastic. But the beach is clear.
