Is this a pompano?

I’ve never seen one so big! I wanted to double check before I cooked it up and served it to my family tonight.

That is a monster of a pompano. I’m no expert but pretty sure for experience and google(lol) thats a pomp! Did you get chance weigh it? Because I can’t say have seen that size before outside of Florida

Yes! A very big one

WOW!

All I know is that we have lots of sand fleas in GC…That means pomps…Maybe not that big, but nice ones. Since the fan is blowing so hard, I will be doing that.

Sweet catch. Surf or Pier? What bait? Congrats. I am still working on catching my 1st. How did you cook it and was it tasty?

Yes that is a pompano. Its the biggest pompano I’ve ever seen too! Nice job.

you may want to weigh that thing first, looks like the state record is 8lbs 12oz in 1975

Nice. Bet that was a nice fight - fine eating too!!!

He was about 9 pounds. Not a record breaker but very tasty!

Caught him on fresh shrimp we caught in Shem creek. He was at Sullivan’s. Cooked him in a garlic lime butter, whole, in a cast iron skillet. Seared both sides and them baked him. Delicious!

Wait, about 9lbs wins trident and is possibly state record…lol

That’s a beauty. I’ve been to the Columbia restaurant in St. Augustine several times and always get their stuffed pompano cooked in parchment paper. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good it is!

You just ate the state record. I hope it was tasty, hahahaha. The record is 8 lb 12 oz.

Trident winner most likely. Had it been weighed in. Would have probably reeked out what I can only guess will be bill jones class winning fish again

you sir must be 7 foot tall if that’s a 9 pound fish… just saying

that’s some seriously good eats though, congrats
