Got a call early in the week from It’ll Do that he wanted to roll first calm day. Said he had room for 4. Called the first 3 on the A-team list and we made plans to be there!
Got to Charleston early (for us anyway) and grabbed a room at the new Holiday Inn Express on Montague. Very nice BRAND new place right off I26. Figured saying in a Holiday Inn Express could only help us the next day.
Me, Chunky, Brianh, and Heywood met It’ll Do and Johnny at the dock at 5am and jumped aboard the BEAUTIFUL 36 Yellowfin. The triple F300s roared to life and off to the fishing grounds we rode.
The ocean was not happy to see us and the ride out was sloppy to say the least. But before we know it we pulled back and put lines in on a nice temp break.
Trolled a bit and caught one or two but it was pretty slow. Chunky jumps up on the bow and says “boys we got to find something better than this!” Seconds later " and there it is! Barrell floating at 1 o clock." As we get closer someone yells “there is dolphin all ov…” ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! 3 rods go down!! FISH ON! FISH ON! FISH ON!!
Over the rail they came.
Stayed on the barrel for a while till bite slowed then decided to push off and find some more fish. Heywood suggests we pick up. Lines in and off to we rode. It’ll Do had something up his sleeve luckly and as soon as he pulls back and lines go in the action starts.
Had some nice 3 and 4 fish fire drills. Crew did great and we made the most of them.
Great day! You need a lobster and a hogfish to round up that great box!

FISH FOR THE FUTURE:
Selective divers set their sights on only those few prize game fish they will enjoy eating
What a great day on the water!! I was not worried about the crew because they did “Stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!” Thank goodness they were very well rested because the ride out out a little shaky. The engines were in and out of the water. I guess I tried to push it a little hard and a couple times I had to throttle back down some.
Scoutin, thanks for the photos and the post. It would have taken me a 2 days to type and post what you did in 5 minutes.
I had the Go Pro in the water for the first time to experiment with it and the new attachment. It was a trial and error day. As for our fishing, Sometimes, We had to try to gaff a fish more than once:smiley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=178VP8sojpo
Black Bart, I heard a rumor about you. Need to confrim. You and I may have a opportunity to do some business in the near future.
Brainh, that was one of the quotes fo the day for sure. “Did you bring the gouda cheese?! No, forgot it…” The GOUDA WHAT?! Gouda cheese is not boat food! Beer pickles and chips!
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
I am very interested in the answer to that question as well. I have heard many compliments on both boats. Please PM me if you are willing to offer up some firsthand knowledge.
