Jack Crevalle in PRS?

Anybody seen or heard of any out in Port Royal Sound yet?
I know some were caught in Calibogue last year.
Wondering if they ever even show up on the other side.

They are tearing up the menhaden at sunrise in Calibogue. No idea about PRS.

I saw some pictures from a friend of some big ones in Calibogue last week.

I’ve caught them on all sides of the island. Calibogue is the most common, but I’ve seen/caught jacks in Cooper River, May River, Skull Creek, Mackays Creek, PRS, and most recently on the front side at Fish America.

Sunrise/Sunset with flat calm water near slack tide are my favorite times to hunt jacks. If you see a school hitting bait at the surface, it looks like someone just threw a handful of grenades in the water and the birds will go crazy, too. From there, track the school visually and they’ll sometimes throw a big wake like an invisible boat cruising at idle speed.

Thanks for the tips ya’ll!!

I’ve been seeing them around daufusky Island. I heard of someone getting into them right around daws island also recently.

We went out this am and couldn’t find them. We looked all over Calibogue and the wind created some top chop so hard to see anything hitting. Decided to throw the cast net for some menhaden and in 20 ft of water caught a 4 ft shark in the 8 ft cast net . Shark proceeded to tear up my net. Never seen that before and got my heart rate up when the line to the net started to go nuts.

Wildlifesc had a FB post on his catch this last weekend that included a jack…I’m sure he could give some clues too. He did say everything they caught was on shrimp under a popping cork.

had that happen with a bonnet head one time. They can take out a good net in a hurry

All things being equal, I would rather be on the water.
