Caught a nice jack at the broad river pier yesterday on the incoming tide. Was using live shrimp on the bottom with a 3/0 circle hook. Caught two guitarfish, a croaker, and more stingrays than I knew what to do with. Action was good for the first hour after the tide had started to come in, but died off pretty quick.
Nice! I kept one and ate it the other day. Flavorful!

I have not tried eating them, I have heard mixed reviews. How’d you cook it and clean it?
I tried smoking one, although it came out a little dry it tasted good.
I prefer to butterfly them, soak them in a mixture of vegetable oil/lemon juice/Italian seasoning then grill them skin side down in my Weber over a hickory wood/charcoal fire. They are good that way.
Saw an episode of Bizarre Foods and Andrew was fishing with a Capt. in Fla and they grilled it and said it was really good. That Zimmer fella with east anything tho[:0]!

Well next time I might try keeping one and eating it. I passed this guy over to a fella who was in a shark fishing tourney. I didn’t stay too much longer but hope he caught something big with it!
If I caught it, it would end up in the crab pots.
