Jake Bentley

BMAC is also on the baseball team. He turned down alot of money to not play pro baseball. That kid is not transferring. he will turn to baseball or just go pro.

He has to wait 3 years to go pro in baseball. If Bentley was the answer, he would have already been playing. BMac was an elite 11 qb, so my guess is he’s gonna be the starter and Bentley keeps his redshirt.

why does he have to wait 3 years? he has already been drafted once.
The deal with JB is that he has not been on campus as long as BMAC. so maybe JB has a better grasp on the playbook now.

Once he signs with a school, it’s 3 years before he can go into the draft. Doesn’t matter if he was drafted strait out of HS or not. He made the decision to go to college and not to the pros.

AH. I thought that was only for football.

Why would you risk getting plastered in football if you have a career in pro baseball? Is it just too uncertain with the whole coming up through the minor leagues process? Honest question.

I have a friend that was drafted and played 2 seasons in the majors. It took him a few years to get there and then he got injured, was “sent back down” and had to fight his way back up. He said it was a pretty grueling process and many players drafted never get past AA ball. If drafted early, the signing bonus can be nice but, playing in the minors (according to him) is not glamorous at all. Bus rides, cheap hotels and not always the best food. He said he almost felt like the clubs did some things intentionally to weed players out.

I don’t really care for baseball but, if given the choice of it or football, I’d take a baseball career any day. You’ll play longer and still be able to walk when you retire.

Because Dabo talked you in to it?

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Dfreedom I was talking with a guy who played with the Braves for a couple of years and he was saying that many times the difference in the guys that make it in the bigs and the ones that do not is based totally on staying healthy. He was saying that there are plenty with the talent, but the injuries get them. So ED I guess even in baseball injury it still a big factor in success.

I understand the reason everyone wants JB to play, but i was listening to the radio and the person made lots of since. 1 player will not make a difference in an offense that is bad. meaning without the talent around him, it will not matter. O-line can’t block for the run, can pass block long enough for a down field pass. Thinking of it that way, I say keep him on the sideline and BMac go. he has not had a fair shot. let him gain confidence against UMASS…hopefully.

This was funny

First, Most, Biggest

This is looking like a pretty good move now. I think what Muschamp did by making this move was to say, there will be no excuses for not trying to win now. I think he sets the mindset of the program and how he wants his players to think moving forward. The best will play regardless of tenure or experience and everyday at practice will be a competition to see who is going to get out on the field. I also think Bentley has shown he has a much better grasp of the offense and playing quarterback at this level and can process what he is seeing at a much faster pace. I think McIlwain has a chance now to learn, grow and mature as a quarterback instead of being thrown onto the hot seat. The recruits, especially the offensive skill guys seem to be pretty excited about the prospect of coming and playing with Bentley as well. Should bode well for the future. I hope they do not have a let down this week, but time will tell.

This is a pretty great read for anyone that has ever asked that question…
