Rumblings that they may be getting him ready to play this season.
So Boom is going to run BMac off before he even gets a chance? Kid will likely transfer to another team. What a circus.

Half way through the season…just redshirt him. this year is a bust
The only reason I can see to do this is to get him some experience in some real games. If you play Orth the rest of the year, you still enter next season with no proven players at QB and right now BMac has not shown the ability to throw any long passes. If you want to hold the current receiver recruits you have, you better show them that you have someone that can throw the ball more than 15 yards that will be here next season. Either they need to go with BMac the rest of the season or play Bentley. I see no real reason to play Orth at this point.
If he looks better in practice than BMac then they should play him. Might suck to lose year of eligibility though for just a few games.
How did he graduate after his Junior year of high school?
He was probably redshirted in high school and had enough credits to graduate early. I am not worried about losing a year if we don’t have someone to replace him by then something is bad wrong . I also say if they think he is better play him.
If he’s not that mobile, the current offensive line will not give him time to read defenses and make a wise decision. I think that’s Bmacs issue now, at least he can scramble.
I am more inclined to think that part of the problems the line is having is that nobody believes they have a passing game so they load up the box and dare them to throw it. This also gives them more bodies to rush the quarterback when he does drop back. Bmac, does not seem to have a good long ball at the moment. That could change with time, but people who have gone and watched many of the practices have said that Bentley has a much stronger arm and a much better touch on the ball when throwing downfield. I am not saying I know what they should do. I think they are both still freshman and are going to make freshman mistakes, but not putting Bentley in to save a year of eligibility does not make any sense to me.
I’m not sure it really matters who is under center as long as the O-line continues to perform the way it has.

after listening to columbia talk radio…if the kid is ready. burn it. At this point you have to thinking recruiting. If he can win a game or 2, it will only help.
Rumor is he is starting this weekend?
best time to do it. At home, early game, non-SEC opponent.

He is a good sized kid, but his bones are still seventeen years old. Let him get hurt Saturday in a game that means nothing and see if the fans feel the same way.
Right now South Carolina has a hole in the boat and they are blaming the motor.
Jacob L. Bentley was born November 23, 1997
BMAC was born on May 31, 1998
JB is older

You are correct. He is soon to be nineteen.

.BMc needs a confidence building game, this opponent is 1-6, let him start the game and score some touchdowns. Why let Bentley come in on a weak opponent and shine? If that’s the case, there’s really gonna be some let down if he crashes and burns against Fla, Tenn., Missouri and Clemson
So will Bmac transfer if loses the starting job?

His mammy ain’t happy.
If he does transfer that is on him. He does not strike me as that kind of kid. Look it is a competition to be the starter. Should Bentley not get a chance to show what he can do just like Bmac did? Why should he have to sit on the bench and wait on Bmac, they are both freshmen and if Bentley is showing the coaches he is the more ready of the two to play, put him out there. If Bentley does not outperform them in practice sit him on the bench. If momma ain’t happy that is too bad. Welcome to big boy sports, not everyone is going to get a trophy. I say put the guy on the field that gives you the best chance to win whoever that may be.
