Hi all - newbie here. My wife’s family has a place in Jeremy Cay and we are fortunate to spend a few trips a year down there. Over the past 7-8 years I haven’t had much luck fishing around the area - always something hindering us when we are down - bad weather, crazy tides…
I will be down again on the weekend of 1/31/15 and will once again try some surf fishing. I am looking for a little direction on what tackle set up works best in the surf and around Jeremy & Frampton inlet this time of year. Any tips/help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance & tight lines!

We used to have shares in the Pelican Porch right there. Never surf fished but fished the inlet all the time. Fish the mouth 1 hour before low, low and 1 hour after low. Bounce a jig on the bottom and I promise you…you will catch all the founder you want. PS - never fished it in the winter months. But Spring, Summer and Fall the flounder are there.

Thanks RT - I’ve had limited luck in Jeremy Inlet: some Sheep, Croaker, no Reds or Flounder for me. I have seen guys pull Flounder out that were too big to fit in their buckets on the State Park side… Never tried plastics though, so I will definitely give it a try. We plan on fishing the mouths of Jeremy and Frampton on Friday, 1/30.
Did you ever have any luck in the canals there?

Big reds in the fall at framptons inlet with cut mullet on the bottom. This time of year is hit or miss anywhere. But flounder and trout are still being caught at the rocks at Jeremy inlet with shrimp or mud minnows on the bottom.
Unfortunately the island has been cut in half by big storms the last few years, so taking the golf cart to framptons has to be timed with the tides carefully.
Best of luck and let us know how you do.

Floater - On Friday, Jan 30. we did make it up to Frampton. I checked google sat images before hand and was prepared for the cut off - it actually isn’t bad at all. I noticed the beaches were looking a lot healthier than they did back in July. Lots of sand now. The last few years there has been a lot of noticeable erosion, but it looks like the beach is starting to come back.
The mouth of Frampton is where you need to keep your eye on the tide - you can easily be stranded out on a peninsula, which almost happen to us.
We fished the mouth and a little up river with cut mullet, no luck though. It was VERY windy so we decided to pack up and head down to Jeremy. Back at Jeremy there was a little more wind protection so we fished the mouth for an hour or so while the tide came in. No luck there either. Moved up to the rocks for about a half hour or so and decided to call it. Spent the afternoon tooling around in the canals in JC, not much action at all. We had a plan for Saturday though as long as the weather cooperated.
At about 5:00 on Friday, I got a call from Ron Davis and he thought the weather would be OK to go out North Edisto around 9 AM on Saturday 1/31. This was by far our best decision of the weekend.
On Saturday we woke up, set a crab pot in the canal in front of the house, and went out with Ron for a half
UPDATE - Did some more fishing in the canals at Jeremy Cay over Spring Break and had better luck this time. I stopped into the Marina and picked up some Red Trout Eye Jigs and rigged them with jerk shad in New Penny or Sardine. Fish are chewin’!
