jerks of the day award goes to .....

I had this exact thing happen to me in Murrells Inlet 10 yrs ago or so. Not another boat around, and I was casting AND CATCHING small spanish macks along the jetty. After the boat pulled up, being within range of regular conversation, I politely asked them what they were up to. They ignored me. Being a young buck in college, I told them they better leave or I plan to pull up and get into their boat and let the cards fall where they may. They ignored me. I tied a large hopkins spoon on and casted within a foot or two of the end of their boat. They got upset and yelled at me. I let them know I was ready to go, just say the word. They left. Most people don’t want to actually fight. Sometimes right is right, and just stand your ground. Not sure what I would do if it happened now.

I know a lot of bass boaters that keep a big triple treble hook top water bait(the brighter colored the better) rigged up on a casting rod for jet skis that come too close while they are fishing. Sometimes just picking up the rod and hauling back to cast gets their attention and they go away. I cringe just thinking about how much that would hurt to be hooked by it while flying past a boat. i thought a much better(less hurtful) idea would be to rig up a tennis ball(or racket ball) on a rod with just about 75 ft of line, if I can hit you with this ball, you’re too close

fished at the bettsy ross 3 weeks ago. had a school of spades commanded to our boat, (a scout I may add), some D A guide from hilton head, bears the name TOP GUN pulls up. drops anchor in the middle of the school we are catching. I DROPPED THE 4 OUNCE ON HIS BOW!

IT WORKED!

While stuff like this really gets my dander up too…I agree with bonzo…would hate to see someone get hit with a sinker, treble hook or shot…sometimes we just have to vent…realize you cant change some people and let it go…chalk it up as “acts of ignorance”. retaliation puts you on their level, and will cause you more trouble in the long run.

…few weeks back we too were at the jetties fishing in the seahunt…had been there about a hour no boats nearby…guy comes right “off-side” of us…asks…catching anything?? Trying to be nice and figuring they are just asking and are going to move on…we respond that we have caught one or two…to that he drops anchor…drifts right back off our stern and sets up lines for his 4 “guests”…as if that wasnt rude enough…as we stand on the stern where our lines are one of the older guys unzips and starts taking a whizz as he is facing us…donnie was livid…shouts that he can get past the anchoring off our stern…but not the disrespect of this and he that the guy should at least go to other side of the boat to pee. Thought he was going to pop a vein! [:0] “Me thinks” I should have grabbed my camera and started laughing like crazy and pointing while I snapped pics[:I]…maybe that would have made him think about not doing it again:wink:.

sad that there are folks like this. I try to think that people like this arent really mean…just kinda stupid when they do stuff like this.nice when we meet the good ones who are courteous to each other, and there are a lot of those too.

btw…crickets do work and are a lot cheaper than fiddlers

No conceal carry permit needed. Dove season will be here in a few months. Take a box of skeet, a shotgun and some shells and just start hand tossing some skeet off their port side about 50 feet. Bet it wont take long for them to get the hell out of dodge.

OK, my buddy and I were on the Wando yesterday. I was heading to a spot where the water was rushing over a large oyster bed. This spot can hold some pretty large trout but its very shallow. We pulled up about 50 yards short of the bed so that we wouldn’t spook the fish. As I was dropping my trolling motor, a boat cut 30 yards in front of us AND DROPPED A FREAKING ANCHOR right on top of the oyster bed that we wanted to fish. I let them have a piece of my mind but they wouldn’t even look at me. I caught two nice trout on a topwater plug, not ten yards from their boat. These guys had more rods, corks and live bait than the law should allow but they never got a bite and eventually left.

floppy boonie hats rule!!

HHI Guides, this how they roll Wreck fishing during Cobe run. First Guide on the spot will set up and start doing their thing, as other non guide boats roll in and try to also use the wreck or structure they try to run them off with gestures etc, then as other Guides roll up they literally anchor up on top of each oter sometimes tying up with each other which would be fine if they did not previosly running off non Guide boats.

I have seen this twice in the Ross and once on Fish America and countless times in the Rips on the Braod river.

This goes on every where, but it seems worse on HHI.

Love the tough talk about concealed weapons. You really gonna pull a gun on someone for cutting you off while fishing. Pointing a weapon at someone is a felony and I wouldn’t advise anyone to do that over a fishing a spot.

Just to add, I have no clue who is in this picture. Probably one of those frigging guides.

I for once totally agree with you. You do not get to draw on somebody for being an ***hole or stupid. That is just the thing freaking liberals love to use against responsible gun owners and users. Even if a freaking drunk crashes into your boat, you can’t shoot him.

If he on the other hand grabs a gaff and is mad at you…Draw, call 911 if, and only if he is in a position to do bodily harm to you and you were in fear for your life.

Umm, you gonna eat that?

some people just aint got a clue about what is going on around them. I was at lake lanier GA for the fourth of july and could not believe the idiots that i saw. we had wakes from 50 ft sea rays going over the bow of my brothers bass boat. The funny thing is the boat traffic makes the spotted bass in lanier feed. so, we wore em out while all this went on. I kind of like fishing in the fall/winter cause the people that are out there usually know what they are doing and are respectful. Also, i have always worried about throwing a large pyramid weight at someone. I mean that could kill them and you could end up in jail doing no fishing what so ever. I dont even say anything to them any more. They dont even think that they are doing anything wrong. These people are so clueless to their surroundings that they dont even know that they are doing any wrong. I just get my stuff together and move to another spot.
