June 29th: Edisto Land Based Shark Trip (Saturday)

I usually post in the fishing match-up but I see a lot of people talking about sharks here, so well see if it gets a better response.

So I want to plan a Shark trip at Edisto on Saturday June 29th starting around 4pm and ending around 10am Sunday morning.

What you need: Bait rod, Surf Rod (6000 or larger filled with 50lb or heavier braid), and if you have a rod big enough to kayak out, ie. senator 6/0 or larger, 30w or larger and your terminal tackle. I suggest watching these videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMPtrLvMif4 - this is how to make kayak rigs. I usually only use a single hook though, as the double seems to wrap up in itself and kink the wire.

Everyone who is interested is welcome, I just want to continue to build up a network here of people who want to shark fish.

I have a kayak, life vest, dehookers, tags, tail rope and harness so you really only need your rods/reels/terminal/spikes and if you catch stingrays prior to the trip I would save them :stuck_out_tongue:

Wish I could make it. If you don’t make it to edisto and go to Sullys instead, let me know. Btw PM me about a spot for rays.

Sounds like a great time. Once I get a shark rig set up, I’ll have to meet up with ya. None of my reels could cast out far enough to do any good surf fishing.

Stan, ill keep you posted. I’d like to join but I’ll have to wait and see how my schedule looks. I usually fish iop beach but it sounds like a fun time with you guys. I’ve got six 6/0 senator set ups and a sit on top I can contribute to the arsenal. Just stay in touch and I’ll let you know something when it gets closer.

We will be hitting the the inlet at folly due to scheduling issues and not being able to maximize the time down @ edisto.
