Welcome back Mr. Parker. I have missed fishing with you and rumor has it you are in need of a report. This should cure you:smiley: I have been out a couple of times and all the pictures are from a couple of trips. If I could sum up what is the theme as of late. it is rain, rain, and more rain. The afternoon storms have been brutal. Some dayâs I have had success rounding up bait, and some dayâs after getting hammered by all the rain, I canât seem to find a mullet for the best of me. Grace and I have fished a few times and it has been relatively slow as I have opted to chunk mostly cut fresh mullet. Trying to lock horns with something substantial being a bull red or a tarpon. I know the odds of a tarpon are about zero, but thats what makes me want one:smiley: Hitting points on inlets with fresh cut bait, big poles, reels, and heavy mono rigs. No luck with that tarpon:smiley: Probably will never get one in my lifetime, but surely wonât have a shot if I donât try. Hit the full moon this weekend and even my wife and boy got to reel in a few. Mostly a few whiting, blues, black drum, reds and the sharks have been biting me off. I did find a mackerel on the beach and I chopped him up too. Last few pics of the big red are the same fish with different angles. I believe she was in the low 40âs. Heavy gal that fought like a champ. Take care Sir.
Been a few years since been there. Use to catch tarpon in the surf at Edisto state park. Has a deep drop off there and around the 3200 block.
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
I see you have some whiting in a bait bag, how does cut whiting compare to mullet?
Great post and pics Pete youâre makeing me jealose . Gracie looking content , see you in OctâŚ

Izzy thanks for the information. Can you help me with more advice regarding what Iâm looking for as in the water. For example if I am on a point of an inlet is it better to cast into the channel between two islands where the water is deeper and running harder. Or cast straight off the point where where I know is a little shallower and not ripping as hard. Like trying to let the bait be swept out to them with the current hoping they are waiting in the calmer water around the bend setting up an ambush on the beach side of the point. Will they venture into shallower water. Or should I try dropping baits into the channel when itâs dumping in on the incoming tide. I also need to figure out how to cast some live bait to them, but it is hard to sling whole whiting and mullet vs the distance I can get with a chunk. Thank you.
Slim In my experience the reds will hit most any chunk with no issues. mullet, whiting, blue, spots it just doesnât seem to matter. if It is fresh they will jump on it. Frozen bait is a no no.
George gearing up for the up and comming mad event fishing with the soldiers. It looks like the date has changed this year and we are heading out a few weeks earlier in October. I have talked to a few of the boys from last year and they are all looking forward to getting together and taking some soliders fishing. The powers from above are working on transportation. Good to hear from you Sir, hope you are doing well.
Runbabyrun i caught most of my reds last year on frozen bluefish/whiting/mullet i caught during the summer. Ive got my freezer full of bluefish this year just waiting on september october for those reds.
Looking good Mr. Pete !

I perfer calmer cleaner water. Theyll be following the bait schools. Candy bar menhaden, blues, greenies will work. Live line, ballons, popping corks to get them out.
Just let the current take them out.you can try lures, xraps and such.
Ive heard theyâve caught some off folly pier 2-3weeks ago. If you want to try trolley rigging, let me know. Would be happy to show ya. Even let you borrow some gear for the day. Just bring time, patience and thick skin.

Thanks for the help Izzy. I think I have an area that I could try out the drift method on the out going tide with an agreeable wind. It is calm and not heavy surf area with tons of bait rolling in the water. Iâm studying up online and have learned some new stuff. Appreciate your willingness to help. I have fished piers very little. You would beat me with a bat before the day was over:smiley: Stevo get well buddy. I have walked in those shoes myself. Blew 2 discs in my neck about 5 years ago. Chances are very good you will be back to normal and slaying giants once again:smiley: After operation take it slow and build back your body. Walking helped allot. Low strain and stress that helped with rehab without pushing it. Take it easy. Sometimes they will heal on their own.
Thanks for the report Pete! Kinda figured some nice catches were being made.
Second night in the new house, been a long time coming. Not 100% moved in, but close enough.
I will definitely be fishing for something somewhere this weekend. Found a nice little seafood market on the way home from work for getting bait.
I have a feeling though my poor pale skin is gonna get burnt.
