just getting started

I am starting diving classes soon and I wanted to ask those of you who have diving experience a question. I am about to buy my equipment and wanted to know what you think about the fins. The pair that I am considering are split down the middle. They are the most expensive type and I want to know your opinion on if it is worth the extra money. The instructors encourage it but I want an opinion from soeone on the outside. They could jusrt be making a sales pitch to make more money. I dont mind spending more if it is really worth it? Thanks for any input.

upsman,

I just bought a pair of split fins in Townsville, Australia and they are great. Person selling them too me encouraged me to try on the split fins and a pair of traditional fins in the pool to see the difference and thats all the sales pitch they needed to give. well worth it.

I dont fell like they are neccessary. Ive been diving for 20 years and seem to do fine with a pair of medium grade fins. If done right, you dont have to swim 30 MPH to catch a fish. Try less invasive methods: one of the most effective is to hide. But we are referring to a one fish fight. Happy hunting
