After having so much luck with the Spanish on Wednesday we decided to go back out and try our luck again. It wasn’t looking promising with the strong winds, storm clouds, and no good bait but we decided to stick it out despite all that and watch the pier clear out quickly. Despite the not so ideal conditions, we still managed to hook into a 23" 2.4lb Spanish! It pays to stick around apparently
And someone on the pier just hooked into a big tarpon but lost it while reeling it in the surf after attempting to beach it. Fishing on the pier is looking up!
Another Spanish just caught! It was caught on a double drop rig with very small pieces of shrimp in the surf! I guess Spanish are hungry because we’re catching them all different ways lol
Are all the SM being caught on bait or are people throwing top waters or spoons and running them back across the surface?
Was in FL a few years ago ago and people on the pier were doing really well casting and retrieving spoons on the surface.
The spanish have been fairly active but not great by any means. Few hits a day on live bait, few on plugs. Gonna try few days this week since good tide times/winds and hoping for the best. Gonna be at Folly around 3 hrs b4 til 3 hrs after HT Mon and Tues.
