Did you run run just out side the jetties last sunday this one? Maybe one similar running out behind us on the way through the jetties. If it was the boat looks really balanced with a nice ride. Had a yamaha on the back.

Thanks all for the comments, appreciate it. This is the most complex build I’ve done yet from scratch. Started with a stack of mahogany and some jugs of epoxy. Built every part of it by hand. The only thing I didn’t do was mount the engine. Yamaha wouldn’t let me for warranty requirements.
quote:Is that Kiwi Grip on the bow platform?
Yes, on the bow deck and stern seat. Getting upholstery made to cover them. They will be plush for cruising and removable for fishing.
quote:Are they going to get fish blood on that?
This one has plenty of blood in it already, and all of it is mine But yes, I’m going to make personally sure that it gets some fish blood in it. Blood won’t hurt it. Stay tuned.
It is hard to think about dropping a cast net full of pluff mud, or a nasty anchor on that deck, but it’s built to take it. Should still look good in 50 years.

well... I still don't see any type of throttle stop
Patience Chris. As soon as I finish up this sole the boat is going to Martin Marine for a T-top, leaning post, swim platform, upholstery, and a locking throttle stop

It’s got 22 rod holders. I reckon he intends to catch a fish:smiley: As soon as it’s finished up I’m taking it fishing and breaking it in right. Can’t deliver a boat that’s not tried, tested and proven

I can’t. Not many would or could pay it for an 18’ boat. Probably about 2000 hours of labor. It’s a labor of love, I don’t worry much about the money. I do OK

what a beautiful boat. you should be very proud. i would love to see a close-up picture of the console/dash board configuration. it looks good from a distance. thanks
This is amazing.I’ve followed your builds for years, and I want to be you when I grow up!
I’ve got a couple small builds under my belt, and everything needed to finish a light FS17.
About a year ago a super deal on a McKee classic 16 got my complete attention, so the next season will be all about crappies up here and some inshore when I get the chance.
The McKee with a Honda 90 is almost overkill, so the FS17 will be super light and probably powered with a 25-30, but it will get built!

fantastic dash lay-out. real efficient. congratulations. watching the customer drive off with that beauty must be like watching your child leaving home.
Absolutely beautiful, God has blessed you with an awesome set of skills, the attention to detail that you have is absolutely amazing. The cypress deck looks phenomenal. Question, how do you keep the deck with the epoxy finish from being slick as all get out when it gets wet? Is there some type of nonskid in there that I cannot see in the pics?
quote:Absolutely beautiful, God has blessed you with an awesome set of skills,
Yes, He has and I thank Him for that every day. And for clients who give me the opportunity to use them. I couldn’t build this boat for myself, couldn’t afford it. I built my first boat when I was 8 years old, it sunk at first launching:smiley: Built my second one at 10, from plans out of a Mechanics Illustrated magazine, it didn’t sink. Been building them ever since. Got a little better at it after 50 years
quote: What brand of clear coat do you like?
I’m using EMC for all the coatings on this. They are fairly new on the marine market but make a great line of paints and clear coats. Their original market was aircraft but have branched into marine coatings. Made in Isle of Palms SC, so service and tech support is close and good.

Yes, I use a non-skid additive in the last clear coats, it’s almost invisible. Called Grip Tex, made by Awlgrip.

Perfect boat for around here inshore. I’ve got a set of plans, but haven’t built one yet. It’s another on my “to build” list I’d build it in the high sheer configuration.
