You see something like this. A DNR officer photographed this at Buck Hall landing today…
Not a problem for a Ram! If it was an F150, or a Tundra, it would be game over:wink:
Rot Roh!!!
Dang! Did he toss a few bait balls off the back?
the intake shouldn’t be under water… i’d start it up and drive it out…

If you think that’s funny, my wife and I watched a GA DNR officer do the exact same thing, maybe a little deeper Ya know that’s got to be a heck of thing to tell the Captain:face_with_head_bandage:

headlights are still on - electrical is OK - should be good to go!
How does this happen? I’ve seen it enough times that I’d like to know what I shouldn’t do so it doesn’t happen to me!

The first rule would be to set the parking brake:wink: Maybe, he just forgot to unhook the wench strap and he gave the gas to that ETEC, and pulled the whole rig down the ramp:smiley: Nah, not with an ETEC:smiley:
I think if it were me I’d find another driver! Even my wife wouldn’t do this!
The boat is running. Might as well go fishing.
Drove up to Sam’s Point one day to find a guy in scuba gear standing waste deep on the hood of a crabbers duelie. Pretty sure somebody got fired that day.
I almost did it myself last year I went fishing with a friend, his boat, his truck. We had a great day and came back to the ramp. He backed up the truck, then drove the boat on the trailer and asked me to pull the truck up. So I got in, put it in drive, released the brake and gave it some gas. Truck rolled backward instead of forward! Hit the brakes fast before I launched the truck! Verified it was in drive and tried it again. Rolled backward deeper! Friend in boat was getting real worried. I was holding the brake hard, tried first gear instead of drive and she came right up without embarrassing me further.
I explained my problem and he told me, “oh yeah, the shift indicator is off one position. Drive is really neutral and second is actually drive”
I asked, “don’t you think it would be a good idea to tell me that before I’m pulling up a boat ramp in your truck ?”

Yes, and for the same reason that it’s no problem for a tricycle.

If the vehicle is a manual trans, then leaving it in neutral will do this, even with the parking brake if it’s a Chevy lol (I’ve owned 3 chevy trucks, all of them had terrible parking brakes). A somewhat-not-right parking brake will cause this to happen slow enough for you to not realize what’s going on if you aren’t paying attention lol. Even leaving the thing in gear might not be enough to keep the vehicle stable, I’ve driven a few Ford work trucks that would roll if you parked them on any sort of moderate incline in gear.
If it’s an automatic, again, neutral can be the culprit, or shutting it off while it’s in gear and not using the parking brake.
Of course there’s the all-time favorite, put it in reverse by accident.

After looking at the photo again I think he parked it there so he could unload the bed without gettin out of the boat!
