kayak fishing for reds

Went fishing in my kayak on 11/18 and caught about 8 reds. The biggest was 24in most were keeper size and a couple undersized. Here is a video of some of the catches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NUMpgwdgEE

Nice! Looks like you have your hands full when you land one. I’d be afraid that I would lose something overboard.

Nice reds!! I fish from an outback also and find it easier to bring the fish in close and hold the line, put rod in holder then land the fish. I love the Beaufort area!!!

Nice! And the water looks pretty calm. I was in the beaufort area on the 17th and nearly got blown away by the wind, but did manage to catch a bunch of weakfish. No specks or reds. Did the wind not pick up on you that afternoon. Reason I ask is, I had a chance to fish the 18th also but decided not too. Probably a mistake huh?

Thanks. most of the things I have on the kayak are tied down or float.

Thanks. Yes, the wind was bad all day but I picked a spot based off of the wind direction. That makes it a lot easier to fish in high winds.

Was that you fishing by the broad river bridge around early afternoon on Saturday, like 1:30 or 2? I saw a guy in a red kayak out there fishing the shoreline on the Beaufort side as I was crossing the bridge, thought he was crazy for being out there in that wind! Cool video, good work!

I saw you heading back to the landing at Sam’s Point. Saturday was a good day. We caught (10) trout and threw back about ten more and caught a 24" Red. I used to do a fair amount of fishing out of my Yak. Can be very fun and also you can get into areas where boats won’t be able to.
