It’s only gonna be a few more days and we’ll be down Sam’s Point way for a couple of weeks of fun, fishing, resting, hunting (hog I hope), more fishing, more fun and maybe a little more resting:smiley:
I’ve been checking here daily for a couple of years now and just want to let everyone know that I appreciate every little bit of information I can pick up while I’m turning green with envy for those of you lucky enough to be living the dream!!!
Things are starting to pick up around here as long as you use natural bait, for some reason the trout seem to be getting smaller but maybe thats just me. The Reds are eating for winter and if you get there soon enough the Bulls are still at their normal haunts, no Idea how long that will last. Good luck to you and welcome back to the Low country.
Thanks Gunny! What I’d like to know-where the heck did all of those 13" trout go that we were feeding the whole time we were down there last year?? They were sure fun to catch though and kept us busy.
I have no idea what happened to them but about a month ago I got into a school of 20-21" trout and caught a dozen in a row every cast that hit the right spot produced but all I’ve seen since is dinks. Good luck they have to be out there.
I’ve been into the “dinks” for a while as well like Gunny. Last week and this week however, some fatties are showing up. Jig, G8r & I caught a dozen keepers to 18" yesterday…shrimp, muddies and artificials…out of 30 or so. Plus a nice limit of bass and 20 or so released, including a 24.5 and 27.5 that came on my artificial slug. It was really great to have Jighead down from Tennessee and have the chance to fish with him & G8r.
Mud minnows fished the same way works also…if you run out of shrimp, use Gulp 3" in Molting or Pearl in place of the live ones. hook thru head so it dangles…don’t thread it on. Pop the cork often. Also, gold ■■■■■/glow DOAs under a Cajun cork produce very well…popping often.
