So I have a question. Thinking of keeping some whiting here and there or even a Red if it falls in the slot.
When you catch fish on the beach, do you just throw it in the cooler no ice? with ice? Do you kill it by whacking it and then gutting there? if so how do you keep the sand out haha.
Let me know what yall do and possibly some easy ways
Just drop the fish in a cooler with ice. When you pull the fish out of the water don’t let it flop around on the beach. Use a de hooker to drop it directly into the cooler and you won’t have any sand on the fish whatsoever.

I might add… Definitely do not put it in a cooler without ice. Unless the cooler is filled with water and hooked to an aerator the fish will be rotting before you cast your next bait.

I use a long stringer. Keep the fish in the water and it can live over an hour. I use my on designed surf spike and keep it in knee deep water with the stringer attached. If the fish dies, right on ice. I carry rods, bait, extra rigs and drinks in one unit. It’s very strong and weighs less than five pounds without the other stuff.

Thanks guys! Just wanted to make sure to see what was the norm and if my line of thinking was correct and yall confirmed it.
Have a good one
